Council To Discuss Chadakoin River Consultant

The approval of a company as the official consultant for the city’s Chadakoin River Basin Activation Project is on the agenda for the Jamestown city council’s work session Monday night.

The project comes following the city being awarded $1,280,661 by the Department of State towards the design and implementation of the project. After reviewing proposals from several companies the Department of Development has chosen to recommend C&S Companies as the official consultant for the project.

C&S is familiar with the area and the project, having worked with the city on the Strategic Business Plan and currently working on the Comprehensive Plan. A resolution to approve the company as the official consultant is set to be discussed tonight, along with the approval of a few other resolutions that are looking towards preparation for the upcoming 2025.

Resolutions include; the approval of depositories for the city, the adoption of a procurement policy, the mayor and City Council members being approved to attend the Chautauqua County Conference of Mayors, the Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board, the New York State Conference of Mayors, the National League of Cities and any other job-related conferences during 2025, the renewal of a lease agreement for the fifth floor of the Municipal Building to be used by the Chautauqua County Division of Mental Hygiene and the official dates of next year’s work sessions.

Also on the agenda is the approval of purchases of vehicles for the Police Department, the approval of a training for Fire Lieutenant Kyle Sholl and the suspension of the hiring freeze for two positions in the Public Works Department.

The council’s Housing Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the police training room on the fourth floor of City Hall. The Finance Committee meets at 7 p.m. in the mayor’s conference room on the fourth floor of City Hall while the Public Safety Committee meets at 7 p.m. in the police training room and the Public Works Committee meets at 7 p.m. in the Development Department conference room.
