Sudbury Ousts Jamestown 103-100 In Game 5 Of Semifinals
SUDBURY, Ont. — Diego Bernard hit a layup with seven seconds left to give Sudbury a 101-100 lead over Jamestown in the decisive game of the Basketball Super League second-round playoff series on Sunday. Jelani Simmons added two more free throws and Jamestown missed a game-tying 3-pointer with a second left to secure the 103-100 victory and a spot in the finals.
Tyshon Pickett paced the Jackals offense with 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds, Derrick Colter added 19 points off the bench with seven more rebounds, Deon Stroud provided 18 points and five rebounds, Khalil Gracey scored 12 with three assists and Devante Jamison had 10 with five assists.
Sudbury shot worse than Jamestown from the field, but missed just four free throws en route to victory. The Five were led by JD Miller with a double-double scoring 25 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and delivering two blocks and two assists.
Sudbury also received 23 points from Bernard, including the game-winning shot, four assists and two steals, Allen Billinger had 18 points, both Jelani Simmons and Duane Notice scored 10 points.
Jamestown finishes the season with an 18-13 record, while Sudbury will play either the KW Titans or the Windsor Express for the championship.
