Randolph Softball Pulls Away From Silver Creek

RANDOLPH — An eight-run fifth inning propelled the Randolph softball team past Silver Creek for a 12-7 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 game Monday.

Sadie Steward collected three hits for the Cardinals (5-3, 2-1) with a double, Mallory Smallback hit two singles and Aliza Hind connected for a triple. Then in the circle, Hind earned the win while giving up five hits, eight walks and striking out six.

Rylee Weiskerger paced Silver Creek (3-2, 2-1) with two hits including a double, while Kimmy Bauer collected two hits. Maddie Blair struck out six batters and gave up 11 hits in the loss.

PINE VALLEY DOWNS BULLDOGS

BROCTON — Cameron Rhinehart hit a pair of singles and drove in three runs to lead Pine Valley past Brocton 7-2 in Division 3.

Elizabeth Roland also had a hit and an RBI for Pine Valley (4-3, 1-2), while Destiny Lindquist connected for a pair of hits and an RBI. Danica Farnham secured the win for the Panthers as she punched out six Bulldogs.

Brocton (0-6, 0-4) was led by Paige Miller with a single and a double, while both Victoria Battaglia and Aryana Nickerson had a hit and an RBI. Madison Sears was dealt the loss and picked up nine strikeouts.

‘BILLIES HIT CLUTCH

OLEAN — Fredonia rose to the occasion with runners in scoring position and down to its final out against Olean and it helped secure a Division 1 victory.

In the top of the sixth, Jenna Fryberger connected on a two-out two-run triple to tie the game and in the next at-bat she was driven home by Bella Buckley for a 6-5 lead. Then again in the top of the seventh, Callie Draggett hit a two-run single while down to the final out to give the final 8-5 lead for victory.

After giving up all five runs in the fourth, Danielle Palisin locked into the circle and secured the win as she struck out three, walked three and surrendered eight hits. The Hillbillies (2-1, 1-0) also had Fryberger finish 2 for 2 with the two-run triple; Naomi Muck went 2 for 3 with a double, Ava Muck was 2 for 3; Buckley went 1 for 2 with a double; and Draggett drove in the insurance runs.

Olean (4-4, 4-1) was led on offense by Amelia Jones with a three-run triple, Riley Sudbrook went 2 for 3 and Anna Bates hit 2 for 4 with a double. In the circle, Emma Edwards struck out five, walked five and gave up 10 hits along with seven earned runs.

DUBOIS DELIVERS FOR TROJANS

Siri DuBois had a fantastic day for the Southwestern softball team and it didn’t stop when it mattered most in the bottom of the seventh inning trailing Dunkirk by two in Division 1.

With two outs, DuBois hit a booming triple to score both Addison Shaw and Alexis Beckerink to tie the contest. Then two batters later, Arianna Silakowski hit a fly ball just past the shortstop that dropped for a single to drive home DuBois for the 9-8 victory.

Shaw, Beckerink and Silakowski each had two hits for Southwestern (3-6, 3-1) and Maddi Burnett doubled with an RBI. Silakowski started the game and had six strikeouts, but Burnett finished the final 2 2/3 to pick up the victory.

Dunkirk (1-7, 0-3) was led by Aaliyah Morales going 3 for 3 with a double, Emma Ahlstrom went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a double, Ryleigh Donato went 3 for 4 with a double and Kassidy Donisi finished 2 for 3. Donato pitched the entire game and struck out seven batters, walked four and gave up 14 hits.

WOLVERINES CHARGE

PAST BEARS

WESTFIELD — Westfield scored four runs over the final two innings it hit to overcome Frewsburg 9-6 in Division 2 action.

Sydney Hotchkiss led the Wolverines (3-3, 2-1) going 2 for 3 with two RBIs, a double and two runs scored, Reagan Weingart went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI and Eva Gnadzinski finished 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored. Gnadzinski also secured the win in the circle with five strikeouts and two earned runs over five innings pitched.

Frewsburg (0-5, 0-3) was led by Teagan Nazario with a double and RBI and Sydney Gregory also had a double and an RBI. Nazario was the losing pitcher with four strikeouts while giving up six earned runs.

EAGLES ROLL COUGARS IN 5

SINCLAIRVILLE — A 13-run third inning sent Chautauqua Lake to a 15-1 Division 2 win over Cassadaga Valley.

Jillian Miller led the Eagles (4-2, 2-0) with a 3-for-4 day that included a double; Lucy Gates went 2 for 5 with a pair of triples; and Kinslee Motter also tripled.

Cayzlee Johnson earned the win with a three-hitter that included 10 strikeouts and just one walk.

Hailey Anderson had an RBI single while Faith McVay and Catie Russell also singled for the Cougars (3-2, 2-2).

RED DRAGONS OUTPACE

JAMESTOWN

Meg Ryan went 4 for 5 with two doubles as Maple Grove/Panama beat Jamestown 17-11 in nonleague action at the Martin Road Athletic Complex.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as Maple Grove (2-3, 0-2 CCAA D2) collected 17 hits and Jamestown (2-4, 0-2 CCAA D1) nine.

The Red & Green led 5-2 after the first inning, but Maple Grove/Panama regained the lead in the second and led the remainder of the game.

For Jamestown, Raegan Powers went 3 for 5 with three RBIs. Emily Maggio and Alyvia Remington each collected multiple hits for Jamestown.

GATORS ROLL WARRIORS

ALLEGANY — Charli Ross went 2 for 3 with a run scored as Salamanca lost 13-0 to Allegany-Limestone in Division 1.

The Gators improved to 8-1 overall and 3-1 in the league while the Warriors fell to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in the league.

FALCONER EDGES EAGLES

ELLICOTTVILLE — Falconer took the lead with a three-run fifth inning on its way to a 5-3 Division 4 victory over Ellicottville.

Hannah Melquist had eight strikeouts in the circle and doubled at the plate for the Golden Falcons (5-0, 2-0).

Katie Lafferty had eight strikeouts in the circle and Riley Whitmer scored two of the three runs for the Eagles (3-3, 2-1).
