Lumia Triples As Jamestown Tops Lancaster In Track

Brighton Lumia won three events to lead Jamestown to a 77-60 Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 boys track and field victory over Lancaster on Thursday at Strider Field.

Lumia captured the 110-meter hurdles (15.8), 400-meter hurdles (59.5) and triple jump (40-8.5) for the Red & Green.

Jaren Cotter claimed the 100 meters (11.1) and 200 meters (22.3); Jorge Rivera Jr. took the discus (132-3) and high jump (6-0); and Carson Zuba won the 1,600 meters (4:50) and 3,200 meters (10:54.3) in the win.

Isabella Jackson was a double winner in the shot put and discus to lead the Lancaster girls to an 85-55 victory.

Emily Cardinale was a triple winner for Jamestown, taking the 100-meter hurdles (17.0), long jump (16-1.5) and pole vault (9-6).

In a show of solidarity throughout the local track and field community, the meet paused for a moment of silence to honor Lincoln Counihan, a Lancaster athlete who was injured in a severe car accident. Donations to help Lincoln and his family can be sent to a GoFundMe account.
