Lakewood YMCA Hosts Spring Open

Adam Strandburg and Lucas Thrift beat Jack Lynds and Myla Brainard for the Coed Doubles Division title.
LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood YMCA hosted its annual Spring Open tennis tournament last week.
In the High School Girls Division, Emmy Kemmick beat Grace Carlson 6-2, 7-5 in the semifinals. Myla Brainard then beat Kemmick 6-2, 6-1 in the final.
In the Coed Doubles Division quarterfinals, Adam Strandburg and Lucas Thrift beat Donny Kemmick and Josh Curcio 6-0, 6-0; Collin Ellis and Jaxson Thrift beat Josh Westover and Grady Corey 6-0, 6-2; Brody Alexander and Finn Ordiway beat Owen Baldensperger and Elliot Striker 6-4, 6-4; and Jack Lynds and Brainard topped Karson Werner and Kaden Werner 6-0, 6-0.
In the semifinals, Strandburg and Lucas Thrift topped Ellis and Jaxson Thrift 7-5, 7-6 (4), while Lynds and Brainard beat Alexander and Ordiway.
Strandburg and Lucas Thrift won the title 6-1, 6-3 over Lynds and Brainard.

Myla Brainard beat Emmy Kemmick for the High School Girls Division title.
Emmy Kemmick and Eliana Curcio beat Addison Blakely and Lydia Honard 6-0, 6-2 in the High School Girls Doubles Division.
In the Men’s Singles Division quarterfinal, Josh Curcio beat Jacky Lei 6-3, 6-0. In the semifinals, Donny Kemmick beat Ted Wybernac 6-4, 7-6 (6), while Chris Mackey beat Curcio 6-1, 6-2. Mackey then beat Kemmick 7-5, 5-7, 10-4 for the title.
In the Rising Stars Boys Division quarterfinals, Gavin Mealy beat Kaden Werner 6-0, 6-2; Andy Dollard topped Sebastian Lawson 6-2, 6-3; Cameron Williams beat Gavin Dietrich 6-2, 6-0; and Karson McCollough topped Karson Werner 6-0, 6-2.
In the semifinals, Mealy topped Dollard 7-5, 6-3, while McCollough beat Williams 6-1, 6-1.
McCollough won the title 2-6, 6-4, 12-10 over Mealy.

In the High School Boys Division prequarterfinals, Jaxson Thrift beat Yaman Aypek 6-0, 6-1; Dominick Holmberg topped Jason Leenders 6-4, 6-3; Brainard beat Ellis 2-6, 6-2, 10-4; Baldensperger beat Westover 6-1, 6-1; Lynds topped Alexander 6-3, 7-5 and Gabe Dougherty topped Treyton Curcio 6-0, 6-1.
In the quarterfinals, Strandburg beat Jaxson Thrift 6-0, 7-5; Brainard beat Holmberg 6-0, 6-0; Lynds topped Baldensperger 6-3, 6-3; and Lucas Thrift beat Dougherty 7-5, 6-1.
Standburg beat Brainard 6-4, 6-2 and Lucas Thrift beat Lynds 6-3, 1-6, 10-5 in the semifinals.
Strandburg won the championship 6-4, 6-2 over Lucas Thrift.
