Gowanda Softball Tops Dunkirk
DUNKIRK — Gracie Eddy struck out eight batters as she pitched Gowanda to a 12-5 nonleague softball victory over Dunkirk on Wednesday.
Addison Kota paced the Gowanda offense, going 2 for 2 with a home run.
Dunkirk was led by Ryleigh Donate with a triple and scored the team’s first run, Brooke Szymczak was 2 for 4 with a double and Aaliyah Morales added a double.
CARDINALS SHUT OUT BULLDOGS
BROCTON — Randolph’s Aliza Hind struck out 14 and connected on two singles and a double as the Cardinals shut out Brocton 9-0 in nonleague play.
Grace Arnold-Hill added a double, home run and three RBIs for Randolph, Aryanna Sears also had three hits.
Brocton received singles from Zoe Spiller, Paige Miller and Sha’Nah Adams, while Nevaeh Hebner was the losing pitcher.
PORTVILLE EDGES NORTH COLLINS
NORTH COLLINS — Ella Warters hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning that lifted Portville past North Collins 7-5 in nonleague action.
Warters also finished the game in the circle for Portville, throwing the final five innings, giving up three earned runs, three hits, eight walks and striking out five. Isabella Morales started the game for Portville and struck out one batter in two innings.
Portville added another home run from Peyton Young, Autumn Baker hit 2 for 2 with a triple and Kylie Maedl was 1 for 4 with two RBIs.
North Collins was led by Morgan Kreinheder with a home run, Isabelle Contro hit 2 for 4 with two runs scored and Karinna Kaufman was 3 for 3. Lily Montaldi pitched all seven innings and gave up with seven earned runs on six hits and eight walks with five strikeouts.
