Big Fifth Inning Sends Jamestown Past Trojans

LAKEWOOD — Jamestown scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning to break a 2-2 tie en route to a 6-3 nonleague baseball win over Southwestern on Friday at Packard Field.

Gavin Maggio led off the fifth with a single and Alex Alvira doubled before a walk to Carter Rizzuto loaded the bases. Julian Jackson then hit an RBI single before Alvira scored on a one-out wild pitch. Blake Smith Jr. was then hit by a pitch to load the bases again. Chase Bonta hit an RBI single and Karson Milne drew a two-out bases-loaded walk to force in Jamestown’s sixth run.

For the Trojans, George Marshall had two hits, including a double, an RBI and a run scored; Wilson Genareo tripled and scored a run; and Oscar Harris singled and drove in a run.

Rizzuto earned the win for the Red & Green allowing three hits and two runs while striking out four in four innings. Kyle Falkowski earned the save with three innings of three-hit relief, striking out four.

SALAMANCA BLANKS WOLFPACK

SALAMANCA — Salamanca scored three runs in the first inning on a pair of Clymer/Sherman/Panama errors and beat the Wolfpack 4-0 on Friday at Veterans Park.

Jake Herrick led off the game with a bunt single before back-to-back errors plated two runs. Conner Seeley’s RBI groundout scored the third run of the inning for the Warriors.

Salamanca made it 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth when Payton Bradley led off with a triple and scored on a Kruz Coustenis sacrifice fly.

Brady Phelps and Isaiah Burkholder had the lone two hits for Clymer/Sherman/Panama.

Bryce Hinsdale allowed four hits and one earned run while striking out six. Gavin Burchanowski also had a strikeout from the mound.

Zach Trietley and Cory Holleran combined on the shutout with nine strikeouts for Salamanca.
