7th-Grader Sirianni Is CCAA D1 POY

Her first year playing high school basketball turned out to be a pretty successful one for Southwestern’s Gianna Sirianni.
The Trojans’ seventh-grade guard was named the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 girls basketball Player of the Year by the league’s coaches.
Sirianni averaged 17.5 points, 3.4 assists, 2.9 steals and 2.8 rebounds per game as Southwestern won the league title with a perfect 10-0 record.
Kay Sirianni, Gianna’s mother and Southwestern’s head coach, was named the league’s Coach of the Year for guiding the Trojans.
Gianna Sirianni was joined on the league’s first team by senior teammate Ellie Pearson, who averaged 11.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.7 assists per game.
Salamanca, which finished second in the league with an 8-2 mark, but went on to win Section VI Class B2 and overall Class B titles, was represented on the first team by juniors Leilene McComber and Makenzie Crouse. McComber averaged 10.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 1.6 assists per game, while Crouse averaged 9.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.4 steals and 1.8 assists per game.
Fredonia senior Piper Walnicki and Allegany-Limestone senior Addie Fisher rounded out the first team. Walnicki averaged 12.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.0 assists per game, while Fisher averaged 8.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.9 steals and 3.4 assists per game.
Southwestern junior Braya Beaver and sophomore Marlana Cresanti, Allegany-Limestone junior Maddie Kahm, Olean sophomore Aliana Hirliman and Salamanca freshman Maliyah Foster made up the second team.
Fisher, Salamanca senior Madisyn Lafferty, Southwestern sophomore Juliet Genareo, Dunkirk senior Brooke Szymczak, Olean junior Viktoriia Lazyska and Fredonia sophomore Juliana Snyder earned Sportsmanship Awards.
