Jamestown’s Stam, Engquist, Pryce Named ECIC D1 All-Stars

A young Jamestown team won four of its final Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 girls basketball games this winter to finish 4-6 in the league.
The Red & Green were recognized for that accomplishment with three girls being named second-team league all-stars.
Junior Anna Engquist, sophomore Makena Pryce and freshman Aiyanna Stam were all named ECIC Division 1 all-stars, while eighth-grader Carley Daniels was named to the ECIC Division 1 all-defensive team.
Engquist led Jamestown in scoring at 11.0 points per game while she was third in rebounding at 5.5 per game. Stam was first in rebounding at 12.3 rebounds per game and third in scoring at 10.3 per game. Pryce was second in rebounding at 7.1 per game and second in scoring at 10.7 per game.
Daniels was first in assists at 5.5 per game and second in steals at 2.0 per game.

Lancaster senior Madison Francis, who has committed to NCAA Division I Mississippi State University in the fall, was named the league’s Player of the Year.
Francis was joined on the league’s first team by Orchard Park’s Halle Senfield, Frontier’s Sofija Urbanovica, Clarence’s Allison Glaude, Orchard Park’s Ella Hernandez and Lancaster’s McKenna Corcoran.
Williamsville North’s Ava Black and Nicolette Zachery joined Jamestown’s trio on the second team.
Urbanovica, Orchard Park’s Maggie Gocella, Williamsville North’s Olivia Dunlop, Corcoran and Clarence’s Vivianna Hallam joined Daniels on the all-defensive team.
Frontier’s Maria Theisen earned the league’s Sportsmanship Award.

Francis was also named the All-ECIC Player of the Year. She was joined on that first team by Iroquois’ Molly Mescall, Williamsville South’s Kimora Berry, Amherst’s Lucy Giordano, Senfield, Iroquois’ Kendall Hulsman and Starpoint’s Sophia Waliszewski.
The All-ECIC second team was made up of West Seneca West’s Ava Gunnells, Urbanovica, Glaude, Pioneer’s Celsy Colombo and Depew’s Olivia Leazott.
