Top-Seeded Salamanca Boys Ousted By Wilson In Class B2 Semifinals
BUFFALO — Top-seeded Salamanca nearly pulled off another fourth-quarter rally, but Shamus George’s free throws in the closing seconds sent No. 4 Wilson to a 63-60 victory in a Section VI Class B2 semifinal at Buffalo State Sports Arena on Wednesday.
The Lakemen (16-6) now advance to the final at noon Saturday, while the defending champion Warriors end their season 18-4.
George finished with a game-high 23 points and Aidan Neumann added 16 for Wilson.
The Lakemen took an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter, but Salamanca went on a 13-0 run to seize a 54-52 lead following a layup by Maddox Isaac with 4:01 remaining. An Isaac 3-pointer two minutes later gave the Warriors a 57-55 advantage, but George scored six of the final eight points, including 4 for 4 from the foul line, to keep Salamanca at bay.
Jaxon Crouse led the Warriors with 20 points.
