Gowanda Beats Eden 8-1 In Baseball Opener
GOWANDA — Blake Herman, Kyan Austin and Brayden Smith combined on a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Gowanda won its season opener 8-1 over Eden in nonleague baseball Friday.
Herman had two hits, including a double, while Logan Ruff added a two-run doubled for the Panthers (1-0), who totaled six hits.
Smith scored twice, while Carson Huch had a two-run single.
Gowanda scored four runs in the first inning, one in the second and three more in the third to lead 8-0. The Raiders scored their lone run in the top of the fourth inning and the game was called in the fifth inning.
Chris Krencik’s single was Eden’s lone hit.
