On March 15-16, the Cheetah West 14U volleyball team traveled to Roanoke, Va., to compete in the Shamrock Festival tournament with 47 teams. They finished both of their pools undefeated and made it to the gold bracket with the top eight teams. In the quarterfinals, they defeated Capital Volleyball Club (Loudoun County, Va.) 25-22, 25-20. In the semifinals, they defeated Biltmore Volleyball Academy 14 Elite (North Carolina) 25-14, 25-23. In the finals, they played the Zoo City Red Wolves (Asheboro, N.C.), who were undefeated in the tournament, 29-1 for the season and ranked 100 nationally. After trailing 12-18 in the first set, they were able to come back to win 25-23. They lost the second set 21-25, but were able to win the tiebreaker third set 15-11.
