Southwestern, Sherman Clinch Shares Of League Titles
Ellie Pearson scored 18 points and dealt out two assists as the Southwestern girls held off Salamanca 51-45 to secure at least a share of the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 girls basketball title Monday.
Braya Beaver added another 17 points, six rebounds and three assists for the Trojans (14-2, 8-0); Marlana Cresanti grabbed 10 rebounds, four steals and three assists; and Juliet Genareo collected nine boards and two blocked shots.
“Ellie Pearson and Braya Beaver really stepped up for us offensively,” Southwestern head coach Kay Sirianni said. “Marlana Cresanti and Juliet Genareo were dominant on the boards. I’m really proud of our gritty win tonight.”
Salamanca (9-6, 6-2) was led by Leilene McComber with 18 points.

SHERMAN — Kelsey Wagner scored 16 points to lead Sherman past Clymer 60-24 as the Wildcats secured at least a share of the Division 2 title.
Emmersen Crawford provided another 10 points, nine steals and five assists for Sherman (16-1, 12-0); Baya Oehlbeck scored 11 points with five steals; Teagan Gratto picked up six steals and five rebounds; Isa Kioko had five boards; and Carlie Gable grabbed five steals.
Clymer (5-10, 3-8) was led by Ava Nyweide with 9 points and five rebounds; Elli Bodamer secured six rebounds; Lilly Johnson had two steals; and Hannidy Goetzinger made two assists.
