Southwestern Boys Hold Off Dunkirk In D1

Chase Hartnett scored 24 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished three assists and had two steals as Southwestern outlasted Dunkirk 58-56 for a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 boys basketball victory on Tuesday.

Brody Larson added another 9 points, 13 rebounds and three steals for the Trojans (6-10, 3-6), Connor Young made six boards and three assists and Colton Waite had six rebounds.

Dunkirk (5-11, 2-8) was led by Greg Orcutt with 20 points while K’Vion Tell poured in 19 in the effort.

Collin Forrest scored another 15 points for the Gators (10-4, 6-3) and Caleb Strade added 11.

OLEAN — Mykel Rivera led four Olean players in double figures as the Huskies beat Fredonia 63-59 in Division 1 play.

Dominic Giovine scored 15 points, while Luca Quinn and Joe Mest had 12 points apiece for Olean (10-7, 8-3), which trailed 50-48 entering the fourth quarter before outscoring the Hillbillies 15-9.

Luca Gullo led Fredonia (8-8, 3-5) with 12 points, Colin Luce had 11 points and Donovan Dowdy scored 10 points.

RANDOLPH CLINCHES SHARE OF D3 TITLE

RANDOLPH –Drew Hind had 21 points, 14 assists, six rebounds and five steals as Randolph clinched at least a share of the Division 3 title with a 73-43 victory over Frewsburg.

Griffin Nelson added 17 points, Carter Conley and Broden Brooks scored 10 points apiece, and Kevin McElwain grabbed eight rebounds for the Cardinals (14-2, 8-0), who led 43-12 at halftime.

Blake Weaver led the Bears (6-9, 5-3) with 18 points and Kael Collver added 12.
