Pine Valley Wraps Up At Least Share Of CCAA Division 4 Crown

ELLICOTTVILLE — Danielle West had 26 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocked shots as Pine Valley locked up at least a share of the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 4 girls basketball title with a 57-51 win over Ellicottville.

Sandy Ivett added 12 points, four rebounds and three steals; Ava West had 8 points and five rebounds; and Sarah Kruszka had six assists and four steals for the Panthers (16-4, 11-1), who led 14-4 after the first quarter and 25-19 at halftime.

Ellicottville (11-6, 10-1) can clinch a share of the title with a win over North Collins on Thursday.

HOPKINS TURNS IN

DOUBLE-DOUBLE

SINCLAIRVILLE — Aliyah Hopkins had a double-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds and four steals to lead Cassadaga Valley to a 51-45 nonleague victory over Maple Grove on Tuesday.

Emiley Anderson provided a game-high 17 points to go along with seven rebounds and five steals for Cassadaga Valley (15-4).

Maple Grove (14-5) had a double-double from Dani Trim with 11 points, 10 rebounds and two assists; Morgan Caldwell had 10 boards, three steals and two assists; Claire Price scored 11 with five boards and three steals; Bryanna Cornell collected nine rebounds, four steals and three assists; and Alex Halstrom had two assists.

HORNETS PULL PAST CLYMER

FORESTVILLE — Carilene Sliwa posted a double-double with 21 points, 10 steals and seven boards to lift Forestville past Clymer 50-37 in nonleague action.

Clymer (6-14) was led by Ava Nyweide with 22 points and eight rebounds, while Janelle Burchanowski scored 10 points and Hannidy Goetzinger provided 13 rebounds.

Forestville (9-9) received five rebounds from both Chymerah Genovese and Ingrid Gibson.

RANDOLPH FALLS AT ST. MARY’S

LANCASTER — Freshman Mila Bissett poured in 30 points and senior Jada Mushat added 24 as St. Mary’s of Lancaster edged Randolph 67-66 in nonleague action.

The Cardinals’ Skylar Herington made a free throw with 7 seconds remaining to make it a one-point game. After a Lancers’ turnover with 3.1 seconds remaining, Randolph had a chance to win the game, but came up short.

Herington finished with 34 points and six steals; Quinn Pence had 14 points, five assists and three rebounds; Gianna Bowles had six assists and four rebounds; and Sadie Steward grabbed six rebounds for the Cardinals (12-8).

St. Mary’s improved to 15-8 with its third win over Randolph this season.

McCOMBER SEALS VICTORY

FRANKLINVILLE — Leilene McComber’s free throw in the final seconds sent Salamanca past nonleague Franklinville 45-44.

McComber led the Warriors (13-6) with 20 points, while Maliyah Foster had13.

Grace Cornell and Hailey Rzucek scored 10 points apiece for the Panthers (11-6).

Franklinville led 22-19 at halftime and 36-28 after three quarters before Salamanca won the fourth quarter 17-8.
