NYSSWA Announces 23-24 Girls All-State

More than 10 months after the last ball was dribbled, shot was taken and trophy was hoisted, the New York State Sportswriters Association has named its basketball all-state teams for the 2023-24 season.

Thirteen Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association girls received recognition, including seven who have since graduated.

Southwestern senior Reece Beaver, who became Chautauqua County’s all-time leading scorer last season, was named to the Class B first team after leading the Trojans to their first-ever New York State Public High School Athletic Association final four.

The CCAA Division 1 West Player of the Year, Beaver accounted for 42.6% of Southwestern’s points with 27.1 per game. She also averaged 4.3 assists, 3.5 steals and 2.7 rebounds per game.

Beaver was joined on Class B all-state teams by teammates Bella Sirianni and Madi McIntyre. Sirianni, a junior and CCAA Division 1 West First-Team All-Star, was named to the eighth team after averaging 10.0 points, 3.6 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. McIntyre, a senior, was named to the ninth team after averaging 6.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.

Frewsburg freshman Jadyn Trocki was named to the Class C first team after leading the Bears to the first NYSPHSAA final four in their program’s history. The CCAA Division 1 East Player of the Year, Trocki averaged 19.8 points, 5.7 assists, 5.5 steals and 3.4 rebounds per game.

Trocki’s junior teammate and sister, Teghan, was named to the Class C fifth team. A CCAA Division 1 East First-Team All-Star, Teghan Trocki averaged 14.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 2.0 assists per game for the Bears.

Randolph freshman Skylar Herington was named to the Class C second team. A CCAA Division 1 East First-Team All-Star, Herington averaged 22.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 2.0 assists per game for the Cardinals.

Westfield senior Tanleigh Bestine was named to the Class C fourth team. A CCAA Division 2 West First-Team All-Star, Bestine averaged 24.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals, 2.3 assists and 1.8 blocked shots per game for the Wolverines.

Clymer senior Alexys Neckers was named to the Class D third team. The CCAA Division 2 West Player of the Year, Neckers averaged 23.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 5.8 steals and 4.1 assists per game for the Pirates.

Salamanca senior Karina Crouse was named to the Class B seventh team. A CCAA Division 1 West First-Team All-Star, Crouse averaged 12.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 3.5 assists per game for the Warriors.

Panama junior Kaitlyn Horton was named to the Class D fifth team. A CCAA Division 2 West First-Team All-Star, Horton averaged 9.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game for the Panthers.

Cassadaga Valley junior Emiley Anderson was named to the Class C eighth team. A CCAA Division 1 East First-Team All-Star, Anderson averaged 24.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.9 steals and 4.0 assists per game for the Cougars.

Ellicottville senior Dalayla Alexander was named to the Class C 10th team and Portville senior Lillian Bentley was named to the Class B third team.

Player of the Year honors went to Association of Independent Schools’ Long Island Lutheran senior Kate Koval in Class AAA, Section I Albertus Magnus sophomore Julia Scott in Class AA, Section II Catholic Central junior Tanavia Turpin in Class A, Section III Utica-Notre Dame sophomore Ella Trinkaus in Class B, Moravia senior Jordan Smith and sophomore Caraline Wasileski in Class C, and Hammond senior Landree Kenyon in Class D.

Other Western New York girls honored included: Lancaster junior Madison Francis (First Team), Cardinal O’Hara junior Kyla Hayes (Second Team) and Cardinal O’Hara sophomore Annabelle Day (Sixth Team) in Class AAA; Nichols senior Brianna Barr-Buday (First Team), Lancaster St. Mary’s sophomore Emily McDonald (Second Team), Clarence senior Ella Corry (Third Team), Williamsville North eighth-grader MIla Bisset (Sixth Team), Starpoint junior Sophia Waliszewski (Seventh Team) and Lancaster St. Mary’s junior Jada Mushat in Class AA; Depew senior Mia Vannelli (Second Team), Williamsville South junior Kimora Berry (Fourth Team), Lewiston-Porter senior Aliza Whitehead (Fifth Team), Lake Shore junior Lucie Scarpine (Seventh Team), Iroquois freshman Kendall Hulsman (Eighth Team), Amherst sophomore Ada Radomski (Eighth Team) and Lake Shore senior Elizabeth Jarzynski (Ninth Team) in Class A; Wilson senior Payton McInnis (Fifth Team) and Eden senior Josie Wray (Eighth Team) in Class B; and Holland senior Julia Dietz (Sixth Team) in Class C.
