Strong 2nd Half Sends JHS Past Williamsville North
WILLIAMSVILLE — Dom Gonzalez keyed a furious third-quarter offensive explosion that propelled Jamestown to an 86-56 victory over Williamsville North in an Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 boys basketball game Tuesday night.
Leading 39-35 at halftime, the Red & Green outscored the Spartans 47-21 after the break, including 26-7 in the third quarter when Gonzalez erupted for 15 of his 25 points.
The win improved Jamestown’s record to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the division, while Williamsville North dropped to 6-4 and 1-1.
In addition to his points, Gonzalez collected six steals, three rebounds and two assists. Jaydian Johnson also had a banner night, pouring in a game-high 27 points, dishing out eight assists, grabbing five rebounds and making four steals.
Elijah Farmer was the other double-figure scorer for the Red & Green, finishing with 13 points to go along with 10 rebounds and eight assists in a fine all-around performance.
As a team, Jamestown shot a blistering 35 of 63 from the floor, including 11 of 22 from the arc, while recording 27 assists on 35 made baskets.
Chris Fagnan led Williamsville North with 27 games, including 21 in the first half.
The Red & Green return to action Saturday when it travels to Orchard Park for a 2 p.m. varsity start.

SALAMANCA — After being tied 28-all at halftime, Salamanca outscored Niagara Wheatfield 25-4 in the third quarter on its way to a 64-39 nonleague victory.
Maddox Isaac scored nine of his game-high 17 points and Avery Brown added seven of his 15 points during the decisive third quarter for the Warriors (6-1). Jake Herrick added 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, for the winners.
Brendan Sheldon led the Falcons (1-8) with 12 points and Colt Becker had 11.
