JCC Women’s Basketball Runs Winning Streak To 6
The Jamestown Community College women’s basketball team extended its winning streak to six games following a 74-45 win over visiting Cuyahoga CC on Wednesday night.
Jennica Berens led the way with a game-high 23 points, Mbali Mhlanga scored 17 and the Jayhawks’ defense did the rest.
Cuyahoga CC managed just seven points in the first quarter, trailed by 13 at halftime and never could recover.
The visitors cut the deficit to seven early in the third before a 9-0 run from JCC made it 42-26. Myla Truitt did much of the damage during the home team’s spurt. The Jayhawks cruised from there and are now 10-2 on the season.
They return to action at noon Jan. 18 at Orange County CC.

JAYHAWKS FALL
The Jamestown Community College men’s basketball team started slowly and ended up suffering a 102-76 loss to Cuyahoga CC.
The Jayhawks (4-13) fell behind 14-3, but pulled to within seven points later in the first half following a 3-pointer from Marcus Wynter, who finished the game with 14 points.
The deficit, which grew to as many as 17 points, was 53-40 at halftime. Jamestown CC drew as close as 61-49 after the break following a 3-pointer by Federico Foddai, who finished with 16 points, but Cuyahoga CC clamped down from there, outscoring the Jayhawks 30-16 to close the game.
Robert Russel paced the Jayhawks with 17 points.
Jamestown CC returns home at 6 p.m. Jan.14 when it entertains Mohawk Valley CC.
