WOMEN

JCC WINS AGAIN

MIDDLETOWN — The Jayhawks made it seven wins in a row as they headed to the New York City area and topped Orange County CC 72-43.

Jamestown CC jumped out to an early 8-0 lead, thanks in part to the strong play in the paint from Barnard, who scored 12 points and added nine rebounds en route to being named the Player of the Game.

The Jayhawks rode that wave into the break, leading 27-15 going to the locker room.

The second half started much like the first, with Jamestown opening its lead to 20 points, winning the third quarter by a 26-12 margin. Jamestown’s leading scorer was freshman Tyesha Wilson, who netted a career-high 14 points.

Wilson and Barnard were joined by Felicity Thiem with 10 or more points as she dropped 10 on the day.

JAYHAWKS FALL

MIDDLETOWN — It wasn’t for a lack of effort against Orange County CC, but the Jayhawks suffered an 84-69 road setback to the Colts.

Jamestown CC was running with the Orange early, down 21-18 thanks to the athleticism of Barrant, who led the Jayhawks with 22 points.

Jamestown CC overcame a 10-point deficit in the middle of the first half to trail only 44-39 at the break.

The second half was a different story, however, as the Orange outscored Jayhawks by 10 to take the 15-point win.

Foddai and Travis Castro joined Barrant in double digits, with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Starting at $2.99/week.
