Falconer Boys Ice Trojans At FT Line 54-44

Falconer held a 2-point lead going into the final period against Southwestern, but finishing 7 of 10 from the charity stripe allowed the Golden Falcons to escape with the 54-44 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 boys basketball win on Thursday.

Roger Markham paced Falconer (7-5, 3-4) with 22 points, while Nate Bailey scored 11 and Zach Markham had 10.

Southwestern (2-8, 1-5) was led by Connor Young with13 points, five rebounds and two assists, Chase Harnett scored 12 with four assists and four steals, Bordy Larson collected seven boards and three assists and Bradyn Fuller made five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

BULLDOGS DOWN WILDCATS

BROCTON — Michael Garcia scored 27 points to lead Brocton past Sherman 55-45 in Division 2 play.

The Bulldogs (4-7, 2-4) led 24-22 at halftime before a 16-9 third quarter created some space.

Jeremy Weisner added 18 points in the win.

Carson Pinzok, Nolan DeKoning and Jacob Ferranto scored 12 points apiece for the Wildcats (5-6, 2-5). Pinzok had 11 rebounds, Ferranto had nine and DeKoning handed out four assists.

Drew Hind led the way with 21 points, including five 3-pointers, to go along with six rebounds, six assists and four steals; Broden Brooks had 14 points, including four 3-pointers; Kevin McElwain had 11 points, including three 3-pointers; Griffin Nelson had eight assists and six steals; and Carter Conley had eight rebounds for the Cardinals (9-1, 4-0).

PANAMA — A 22-6 fourth quarter helped Panama rally from a 46-40 deficit to beat Chautauqua Lake 62-52 in Division 2 action.

Carter Brink led the Panthers (7-1, 5-1) with 20 points to go along with three assists, three rebounds and two steals. Jordan Mescall had 13 points, four rebounds and four steals; Bryce Hinsdale had 12 points, six assists and five rebounds; Alex Barmore had 11 rebounds; and Tate Catanese had eight rebounds in the win.

Nate Henry led the Eagles (5-6, 4-3) with 16 points, Nick Jacobson had 14 and Trent Houser had 11.

WARRIORS PULL AWAY FROM DUNKIRK

SALAMANCA — Payton Bradley scored a career-high 16 points as Salamanca pulled away from Dunkirk for a 59-38 Division 1 win.

The Warriors (9-1, 6-0) led 28-20 at halftime before a 19-4 third quarter put the game away.

Maddox Isaac added 10 points for the winners.

Greg Orcutt led the Marauders (3-7, 1-4) with 11 points.

SWANSON NETS 34 IN WIN

WESTFIELD — Carson Swanson poured in 34 points, grabbed six rebounds and six steals and made seven assists as Westfield rolled Clymer 67-34 in Division 2.

Zach Maguire provided a double-double for the Wolverines (12-1, 7-0) with 15 points and a whopping 18 rebounds with a block. Lincoln Thomas added 12 points on four triples, Braylon Swanson collected nine rebounds and three steals and Grant Beadle had six rebounds.

Clymer (5-6, 3-4) was led by Roman Wassink with 12 points.

SOUTH DAYTON — Trent Ivett’s free throw with 8.6 seconds remaining proved to be the difference as Pine Valley beat Cattaraugus-Little Valley 36-35 in Division 4 play.

The Timberwolves rebounded a second missed free throw and got off a 3-pointer at the buzzer that just missed off the back rim.

Camryn Slade led the Panthers (4-5, 2-3) with 16 points and Ivett added 10.

Tucker Barrick led the Timberwolves (3-8, 1-5) with 14 points and Bransen Gabel added 12.

BEARS DOMINATE SECOND HALF

PORTVILLE — Frewsburg trailed by three at halftime, but outscored Portville 33-14 in the second half to win their Division 3 contest 57-41.

Kael Collver led the Bears with 17 points, 13 rebounds, three blocked shots and two assists. Blake Weaver had 11 points, six rebounds, six steals, four assists and two blocked shots, while Max Fischer had 11 points. Trent Lewis added 9 points, five assists and three steals in the win.

The Bears (3-7, 2-2) won the third quarter 19-9. Collver had 6 points, Weaver had 5, and Trent and Fischer each had 4 in the period.
