Randolph’s Herington Pours In 46; Frewsburg’s Trocki Has 37 En Route To 1,000-Point Milestone

RANDOLPH — Skylar Herington came up three points short of a Randolph single-game record with a career-high 46 points as the Cardinals beat Cassadaga Valley 77-43 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 girls basketball Friday.

Herington made eight 2-pointers and nine of Randolph’s team-record 16 3-pointers to go along with three free throws en route to her nearly 50 points. Sydney Hvizdzak, a 2021 graduate, set the team record with 49 points.

Herington scored 20 points during a 27-8 first quarter and 10 more in a 24-11 second quarter as the Cardinals led 51-19 at halftime. The sophomore guard, who also had three assists, three steals, three rebounds and two blocked shots, added 11 points in the third quarter and her final 5 points in the fourth quarter.

Quinn Pence added 18 points — all on 3-pointers — to go along with eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals for Randolph (7-4, 4-0).

Emiley Anderson led the Cougars (8-2, 3-2) with 21 points and Aliyah Hopkins had 14.

JADYN TROCKI ECLIPSES 1,000

FREWSBURG — Jadyn Trocki poured in a career-high 37 points, in the process eclipsing 1,000 career points, as Frewsburg beat Portville 67-27 in Division 3 play.

Trocki scored 16 points during an 18-0 first quarter, then passed 1,000 points in the second quarter with 16 more points. The Bears (8-2, 4-1) led 39-10 at halftime.

Trocki, a sophomore guard, also had nine steals, three rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot, while her sister, Teghan, had 13 points, five rebounds, three steals and three assists. Senior Taytum Jimerson added six assists for Frewsburg.

Ava Jo Edwards led the Panthers (5-4, 0-2) with 11 points.

CRESANTI LEADS THE WAY

ALLEGANY — Behind the play of Marlana Cresanti, Southwestern rolled past Allegany-Limestone 51-36 in a Division 1 game.

Cresanti scored all 15 of her points in the first half as the Trojans raced to a 31-10 lead at the break.

“Marlana sparked our offense in the first quarter with nine points,” Trojans head coach Kay Sirianni said. “Our team played great defense in the second quarter and shut down Allegany-Limestone’s offense.”

Joining Cresanti in double figures for Southwestern was Gianna Sirianni with 11 points. Braya Beaver and Ellie Pearson added 8 apiece.

ORCHARD PARK — Balanced scoring carried Orchard Park to a 63-36 Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 victory over Jamestown.

Leading the way for the Quakers were Halle Senfield with 20 points, and Caroline Braun and Erin Haggerty with 10 apiece.

Orchard Park led 23-9 after the first quarter and never looked back.

For Jamestown Aiyanna Stam turned in a banner game, scoring 15 points and grabbing 21 rebounds, and Anna Engquist added 10 points.

DUNKIRK — Leilene McComber and Maliyah Foster scored 17 points apiece to lead Salamanca to a 74-30 victory over Dunkirk in a Division 1 game.

Mackenzie Crouse and Madisyn Lafferty each added 14 for the Warriors (6-4, 3-1), who outscored the Marauders 42-11 in the second half.

Nobody had more than 6 points for the Marauders (0-10, 0-4).

FORESTVILLE — Natalee Leiper led three players in double figures with 15 points to pace Ellicottville to a 46-27 victory over Forestville in a Division 4 game.

The Eagles (5-4, 4-0) limited the Hornets (4-4, 3-3) to single-digit scoring in each quarter and led 26-13 at the break.

Ande Northrup added 12 points and Courtney Marsh had 10 for the winners.

Carilene Sliwa led Forestville with 14 points and four steals. Ingrid Gibson added seven rebounds.
