Brooks Hits 12 3s For Randolph Record In D3 Win

FREWSBURG — Broden Brooks couldn’t miss.

The Randolph junior drilled a school-record 12 3-pointers, including 10 in the first half, to send the Cardinals to an 82-30 victory over Frewsburg in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 boys basketball game on Monday at Frewsburg High School.

Drew Hind added 17 points and Carter Conley chipped in 10 for winners, who improved to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the division.

How hot was Brooks?

Well, he hit four treys in the first quarter, six in the second and two more in the third, breaking the old school record set by Hind three years ago.

“He caught fire and we closed out late,” Bears head coach Kyle Nelson said.

The Cardinals, the top-ranked Class C school in the state, led 26-8 after the first quarter and 49-14 at halftime.

For the Bears (2-7, 1-2), Blake Weaver scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds; and Kael Collver chipped in 7 points, 10 boards, four assists, two blocks and a steal.

BROCTON — Carson Swanson posted a triple-double with 39 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, while adding eight steals and two blocks to lead Westfield past Brocton 72-57 in Division 2.

Zach Maguire added 13 points, seven rebounds and eight blocks for the Wolverines (11-1, 6-0) and Braylon Swanson had three assists and two steals.

Brocton (3-7, 1-4) was led by Michael Garcia with 22 points and Nathan Laurito with 15.

PANTHERS DOWN WILDCATS

SHERMAN — Carter Brink scored 22 points, dealt seven assists and had three steals to lead Panama past Sherman 61-43 in Division 2 play.

Jordan Mescall hit five triples while scoring 17 points with three steals for the Panthers (6-1, 4-1), Tate Catanese collected eight rebounds with four steals and two blocks, Bryce Hinsdale had four assists, Andrew Spiesman reeled in seven boards and Alex Barmore added eight boards, two steals and a block.

Sherman (5-5, 2-4) was led by Nolan DeKoning with 9 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals and Jacob Ferranto added six blocks.

ELLERY — Carson White and Blake Beckerink both hit a pair of threes in the first quarter as Clymer took down Maple Grove 56-42 in Division 2 action.

White and Beckerink finished with 12 points apiece and Kameron Einink matched that total for the Pirates (5-5, 3-3).

Maple Grove (1-9, 0-6) was led by Liam Colburn and Aiden Dahlberg with 16 points each.

NORTH COLLINS — Rylan Benjamin hit four 3-pointers for Ellicottville as it defeated North Collins 45-28 in Division 4.

Benjamin finished with a game-high 19 points and Blake Smith added 12 more for Ellicottville (5-3, 3-2).

North Collins (2-7, 2-3) was led by Walter Ebersole with 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks, Leon Lark also had seven rebounds and both Alex Pagan and Scott Armbruster had five rebounds.
