Sherman Girls Take Down Silver Creek Hoops

SHERMAN — Kelsey Wagner scored 19 points and nabbed four steals to lead Sherman past Silver Creek 68-34 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 action on Friday.

Emmersen Crawrford added 11 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Wildcats (5-0, 4-0), Teagan Gratto scored 12 points and six rebounds, Baya Oehlbeck made six rebounds and three assists with 11 points and Isa Kioko had three steals.

Silver Creek (4-1, 2-1) was led by Khloe Karnes with 13 points and three steals, while both Gracelin Stevens and Meadow Azzarella had five rebounds.

RED DRAGONS HEAT UP

ELLERY — Maple Grove turned a slow start into nearly a double-digit victory, defeating Westfield 40-31 in Division 2 action.

After scoring just three points in the opening quarter, the Maple Grove (6-1, 4-0) offense woke up and it was Claire Price leading the way with 13 points and Bryanna Cornell provided a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Margaret Ryan added nine rebounds, Alex Ahlstrom collected seven and Morgan Caldwell had six in the effort.

Westfield (2-3, 1-2) was led by Naomi Ottey with 10 points and four steals, Sofia Wolfe collected four rebounds and Nahlia Douglas dealt three assists.

ORCHARD PARK — Jadyn Trocki scored 21 points, dealt seven assists, collected five rebounds and blocked three shots as Frewsburg powered by Orchard Park 71-53 in nonleague action.

Ava Jimerson posted 19 points with nine rebounds and six steals for Frewsburg (4-0), Teghan Trocki provided 14 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals, Taytum Jimerson dished eight assists, grabbed eight rebounds and four steals, Abery Harvey collected five boards and four steals and Kaylee Kappa scored 10 points and six rebounds.

Orchard Park (6-2) was led by Ella Hernandez and Maggie Gocella with 12 points each.

FALCONER — Gianna Sirianni hit four 3-pointers and scored 19 points to lead Southwestern past Falconer 58-30 in nonleague play.

Braya Beaver added 10 points and Emma Lewis scored 9 for the Trojans (4-1).

Falconer (3-3) was led by Addison Calimeri with 8 points, while both Augustine Krenzer and Sydnee Snow had eight rebounds and two blocks each.

CORRY, Pa. — Jamestown suffered a 50-32 setback to Corry in the first round of the Corry Tournament.

Rylee Nickerson led a balanced attack for the winners with 11 points and Haley Muman added 10. Corry led 19-9 after the first quarter and 33-16 at halftime.

CLYMER ADVANCES

CORRY, Pa. — Offense was tough to come by at the Corry Tournament, but Clymer finally found its groove in the fourth quarter as it pulled away from Titusville 32-19 to advance to tonight’s championship against Corry.

Ava Nyweide paced the Pirates (2-2) with 14 points, four steals and three rebounds, Elli Bodamer scored 11 and hauled in seven boards, Harleigh Faulkner collected four rebounds and four steals, Alyssa Pratt had three steals and Janelle Burchanowski provided five boards and three steals.

Titusville (2-3) was led by Kasey Krepps and Kennedy Baker with 5 points each.
