Isaac, Holleran, Trietley, Kyler Capture Class C South Awards
Salamanca’s perfect run through the Section VI Class C South league has garnered the Warriors plenty of postseason awards.
Senior quarterback Maddox Isaac was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Year, while seniors Zachary Trietley and Cory Holleran were named co-Defensive Players of the Year. Fellow senior Warrick Kyler was named the league’s Lineman of the Year.
In 13 games this fall, through Salamanca’s New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class C West Semifinal win over Chenango Forks, Isaac completed 68 passes for 1,442 yards and 24 touchdowns with just one interception. On the ground, Isaac added 1,111 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Trietley was in on 166 tackles, including 22 for a loss, and had four sacks. On the offensive side of the ball, Trietley ran for 44 yards and a touchdown, while also catching nine passes for 115 yards and three scores.
Holleran was in on 134 tackles, including 14 for a loss, intercepted nine passes and recovered three fumbles. Offensively, Holleran caught 25 passes for 688 yards and eight touchdowns.
Kyler was in on 85 tackles, including 15 for a loss, and had two sacks. Kyler also anchored Salamanca’s offensive line as the Warriors ran for 3,382 yards and threw for another 1,492.
Salamanca senior running back Xavier Peters was also named to the First-Team Offense for the Warriors.
Portville/Cuba-Rushford’s Josh Brooks was named the league’s Coach of the Year after the Panthers finished 5-2 in the league. Their only losses were to Salamanca and Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove. Portville/Cuba-Rushford finished the regular season with five straight league wins.
Four Portville/Cuba-Rushford players were named to the league’s First Team. Senior offensive lineman Josh Kriger and senior running back Maxx DeYoe were named to the First-Team Offense, while senior defensive lineman Henry Chamberlain and junior defensive back Aidan DeFazio were named to the First Team Defense.
Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove also had four players named to the First Team. Senior offensive lineman Chaz Sundquist and senior wide receiver Jacob Roth were named to the First-Team Offense, while senior linebackers David Markham and Charlie Reichenbach were named to the First-Team Defense.
Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton had three players named to the First-Team Offense and one named to the First-Team Defense. Senior lineman Mason Maring, junior quarterback Brayden Gibbs and junior wide receiver Nick Jacobson were honored on offense, while junior defensive back Devin Hewes was also recognized.
Two players represented Southwestern on the First-Team Defense: junior lineman Tyler McIntyre and junior linebacker George Marshall.
Eden/North Collins junior quarterback Brady Waring and sophomore wide receiver Silas Nellis were named to the First-Team Offense.
Fredonia senior lineman Colin Crowell rounded out the First-Team Offense and Silver Creek/Forestville senior defensive back Cam Ingram completed the First-Team Defense.
Silver Creek/Forestville received the Team Sportsmanship Award with Black Knights senior Anderson Cross the Individual Sportsmanship Award winner.
