Portville’s Gariepy Named CCAA Division 2 MVP
Despite clinching the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 league title with a scoreless draw, Portville scored plenty of goals to earn another trophy and the force behind that offense was sophomore Grace Gariepy.
Pacing the Panthers with 33 goals and five assists, Gariepy earned the league’s top honor as the MVP along with her spot on the First Team.
A trio of Portville seniors join Gariepy on the First Team in Emily Collins, Natalie Reynolds and Ashley Carls. Collins helped the Panthers keep 10 clean sheets on the year, Reynolds provided an assist and Carls scored seven goals and three assists.
Ella Zeigler, Emma Rhinehart and Airiana Whittaker represented the Panthers on the Second Team, while Bella Morales was the Individual Sportsmanship Award winner.
Randolph finished right behind the Panthers and earned three First-Team All-Stars in junior Gianna Bowles, and seniors Quinn Pence and Sadie Steward. Bowles ran the offense with 24 goals and 21 assists, Pence provided 10 goals and 16 assists, and Steward scored 21 goals and seven assists.
Randolph added three more to the Second Team in senior Sara Smith, and sophomores Stella Smith and Grace Arnold-Hill. Jenna Anderson received the Individual Sportsmanship Award for the Cardinals.
Ellicottville also received three First-Team All-Stars in senior Addison John, and juniors Drew Ficek and Teaghan Finn. John led the Eagles in scoring with 16 goals and three assists, Ficek added 12 goals and nine assists, and Finn had one assist helping the Eagles post seven shutouts.
Seniors Courtney Marsh and Jayden Doutt, and sophomore Ava Fuller were Second-Team All-Stars. On top of earning the Team Sportsmanship Award, Ellicottville’s Individual Award winner was Harper Klein.
Seniors Summer Downey and Madisyn Lafferty represented Salamanca on the First Team after scoring a goal and an assist, and five goals and one assist, respectively. Eighth-grader Ellouise Browna and junior Leilene McComber were named to the Second Team, while Izabella Milks was the Individual Sportsmanship Award recipient.
Pine Valley/Gowanda senior Sarah Kruszka rounds out the First Team after leading the Panthers with 12 goals and three assists, while Katie King made Second Team and Destiny Lindquist was the Individual Sportsmanship Award winner.
Franklinville sophomore Taylor Chase and Cattaraugus-Little Valley junior Talon Bramer made up the final spots on the Second Team. Franklinville’s Individual Sportsmanship Award went to Addisyn Killingbeck, while Cattaraugus-Little Valley’s recipient is Breanna Unruh.
