Brockport’s Cossin Named DIII All-American
SUNY Brockport women’s soccer standout Jaylah Cossin was named a 2024 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women’s Scholar All-American Third-Team selection in a release by the coaches association last Thursday.
Cossin, from Silver Creek, majors in social work and carries a 3.55 grade point average in the classroom. Cossin adds scholar All-American to her impressive list of accomplishments after being named the program’s first USC First-Team All-American earlier this month.
In 2024 she led the Golden Eagles with 11 goals (first in the conference), eight assists (fourth best in the conference), and 30 points (first in the conference) with a total of 64 shots and 40 on goal (second in the conference with a 3.56 avg/game).
Cossin was a heavy contributor to the team earning its at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament, the second NCAA appearance in program history. Totaling 29 points (11 goals, seven assists) in 2023, Collin has racked up 22 goals, 15 assists and 59 points in two seasons at Brockport. She is tied for 13th all-time in career points, ranks 13th all-time in goals, and is tied for 10th all-time in assists.
Over the last few seasons, Cossin has earned First-Team All-Conference as player in the North Atlantic Conference (2022, Cazenovia), Second Team in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (2023, Brockport), and First Team in the Empire 8 Conference (2024, Brockport). To go with three straight all-conference nods, Cossin has also earned recognition as the 2024 Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Year and she is a two-time United Soccer Coaches First-Team All-Region selection (2023, 2024).
Cossin helped lead the 2024 Golden Eagles to a historic season, which concluded with a first-round loss to Wesleyan in the NCAA Tournament. Brockport finished the season 15-2-2 overall and 10-1 in Empire 8 play. Brockport got off to its best start in program history, remaining undefeated through 10 games at 9-0-1 without allowing a single goal. With 15 clean sheets on the season, the 2024 team broke the single season shutout record of 13 (1995, 2023). Brockport also set a new record for most shots in a season (419) and it was just the fifth time in program history the squad reached 15 wins.
