Johnson, Farmer Shine As Jamestown Posts 71-48 Victory At Sweet Home
AMHERST — Jaydian Johnson has had plenty of outstanding performances on the hardwood during his high school career.
Monday afternoon might have been his best.
The senior guard poured in 33 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out seven assists to propel Jamestown to a 71-48 victory over Sweet Home in a nonleague basketball game.
All told, Johnson shot 13 of 19 from the floor, including 4 of 6 from the arc and, in tandem with teammate Elijah Farmer, it was too much for the Panthers, who were outscored 26-8 in the fourth quarter.
For his part, Farmer scored 23 points, and pulled down 14 rebounds while shooting 10 of 15 from the floor.
Collectively, the Red & Green connected on 30 of 59 field goal attempts compared to 19 of 41 for the Panthers. Jamestown, which committed just 11 turnovers, also held a 33-21 advantage on the boards.
For Sweet Home, Dondre Walker led the way with 15 points and Abdul Keshinro added 12.
The win raised the Red & Green’s record to 5-1 overall while the Panthers dropped to 3-2.
In the junior varsity game, Jamestown prevailed 56-41. Julian Jackson led the way for the winners with 13 points and eight rebounds while teammate Hector Montanez chipped in 11 points.
The Red & Green return to action at 12:30 p.m. Saturday when they travel to Clarence.
