Jamestown Edges Lockport 65-61; Wolverines Down Trojans
LOCKPORT — Jaydian Johnson poured in 25 points, and Elijah Farmer and Dominic Gonzalez added 15 apiece to spark Jamestown to a 65-61 nonleague boys basketball victory over Lockport on Saturday afternoon.
With the game tied 47-all, the Red & Green (3-1) outscored the Lions 18-14 in the fourth quarter, connecting on five of eight free throws during that time, and holding on for the win.
Johnson shot 9 of 16 from the field, including 4 of 7 from the arc, grabbed five rebounds, dished out four assists and collected five steals; Farmer added nine rebounds, four assists and four steals; and Gonzalez had four steals. As a team, Jamestown forced 17 turnovers while committing only nine and shot 25 of 51 from the field.
Charlie Croff paced Lockport (4-1), which shot 9 of 21 from the arc, with 20 points, Mike Griffin had 19 and Caleb Barry added 10.
NOTES: The Red & Green will be back in action Dec. 30 when they travel to Sweet Home. … Jamestown also won the junior varsity game 49-41. Jhensen Hernandez led the way with 16 points; Julian Jackson added 12 points and eight rebounds; and Nick Elardo chipped in 8 points and eight boards.

WESTFIELD HOLDS ON
WEST ELLICOTT — Carson Swanson scored 29 points to go along with six assists, six steals and four rebounds to help Westfield hold off Southwestern in the championship game of the Southwestern Tournament.
The Wolverines (6-1) led 31-30 at halftime and 51-44 after three quarters, but the Trojans (1-4) cut the deficit to two points late in the final period. Fouled with 29 seconds remaining, Swanson hit one of two free throws to push Westfield’s lead to three points. Southwestern had a great look at a game-tying 3-pointer in the final moments, but the shot didn’t fall.
Joining Swanson in double figures for the Wolverines was Zach Maguire, who finished with 14 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Grant Beadle added 6 points and 10 rebounds; and freshman Braylon Swanson drilled two 3-pointers to go along with two assists and two steals.
For the Trojans, Landon Hooks led the way with 19 points, Chase Harnett had 12, Connor Young chipped in 9 and Colton Waite added 8.

WEST ELLICOTT — Blake Smith poured in 27 points, pulled down seven rebounds and collected six steals to help Ellicottville edge Frewsburg 57-51 in the consolation game of the Southwestern Tournament.
Benjamin Rylan added 15 points, six rebounds and five steals; Cameron Mendell scored 11 points; and Carter Smith chipped in six assists, five steals and four boards for the winners (3-2).
For the Bears (1-2), Trent Lewis scored 14 points to go along with five assists and three rebounds; Blake Weaver added 13 points, five boards, four assists and three steals; Taran Laska chipped in 10 points, five rebounds and five assists; and Kael Collver had 6 points, eight rebounds, three steals and three blocks.

DUNKIRK — K’Vion Tell and Greg Orcutt carried Dunkirk to a 74-51 nonleague victory over Medina.
Tell poured in 25 points, dished out seven assists, grabbed five rebounds and collected four steals, while Orcutt added 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists as the Marauders evened their record at 2-2.
Avery Krystofiak added 18 points and seven boards for the winners.

HORNETS TRIM BROCTON
BROCTON — William Duliba hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 5 seconds remaining and Brocton’s last-chance shot went up just late as Forestville escaped with a 75-74 nonleague victory.
The Hornets (6-0) trailed by five with less than a minute remaining, but Jack Spengler scored to make it a three-point game. After a steal, Jacob Anders was fouled on a breakaway and sank a pair of free throws to make it a one-point game.
The Bulldogs (1-5) made it a two-point game with a free throw before Forestville’s go-ahead possession. Manny Sanchez used a Blake Waterman screen to find Duliba open in the corner for the eventual winning bucket.
A scramble ensued during Brocton’s final possession and the Bulldogs’ last-ditch effort went in, but was deemed too late to count.
Anders finished with 22 points and Duliba added 20 for the Hornets. Waterman had nine rebounds and four assists; Sanchez had three rebounds, six assists and four steals; and Spengler had six rebounds.
Michael Garcia led Brocton with 25 points to go along with seven rebounds, while Jeremy Weisner had 20 points and 11 rebounds. Nathan Laurito chipped in 17 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in the loss.
