Chase Bonta and Cole Bloomquist had dynamic football seasons for Jamestown this fall, head coach Tom Langworthy and staff put them in position to shine and, collectively, they all received Section VI Class AA’s top honors.

Bonta was selected the classification’s Player of the Year; Bloomquist was named the co-Defensive Player of the Year; and Langworthy was chosen the Coach of the Year.

Bonta, a 5-foot-9, 195-pound junior, rushed for 1,939 yards — third-most in the section this season and fourth-most in school history — on 286 carries and scored 26 touchdowns.

Bloomquist, a 5-11, 180-pound senior, was second in all of Section VI in total tackles with 157. Along the way, he also had 23 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and forced a fumble and recovered another. Bloomquist shared the Defensive POY honor with senior Jadyn Robinson of Niagara Falls and the former concluded his career with the third- and fourth-best single-season tackle totals in Jamestown’s history.

Finally, Langworthy, who has directed the program for 17 seasons, guided this year’s team to a 6-5 overall record and a 5-4 mark in the division, pushing his career win total to 113, 46 behind the school’s leader, Wally Huckno (1983-2003). Also the offensive play-caller, Langworthy saw his team lead the division in scoring and rebound nicely from a 2-4 start to knock off Niagara Falls and Bennett in the postseason before falling to Lancaster 28-21 in the sectional championship game at Highmark Stadium.

That trio wasn’t the only members of the Jamestown program to receive Class AA recognition.

Joining Bonta and Bloomquist on the First Team were senior offensive lineman Zeus Wilson-Earll; and senior defensive linemen Carson Panebianco and Tommy Pratton.

Wilson-Earll anchored the unit that paved the ground attack for Bonta’s spectacular season, while also collecting 70 total tackles, including 16 for loss, and two sacks on defense.

Meanwhile, Panebianco was in on 99 total tackles, including 22 for loss, and recorded nine sacks; and Pratton racked up 88 total tackles, including 25 for loss, and 13.5 sacks.

Jamestown’s Second-Team honorees were junior offensive linemen Eligh DeLeon and Asziah Watson; senior wide receiver Ayden Samuelson; and junior linebacker Luis Diaz.

Juniors Dominic Gonzalez (quarterback), Josiah Cruz (wide receiver), Joseph Perry (offensive lineman) and Gavin Ford (offensive lineman) were Honorable-Mention selections.

Following are the other top Class AA honorees: seniors E’Ryan Lawrence of Bennett and Brady Ciano of Orchard Park were the Co-Offensive Players of the Year; and Hutch Tech and team representative Romeo Kidd were recipients of the Sportsmanship Award. Bennett was the regular-season champion, while Lancaster was the Class AA sectional champion.
