Salamanca, Franklinville/Ellicottville Clinch Spots In Finals
RANDOLPH — When Franklinville/Ellicottville hosted Randolph during the regular season, the Titans could not stop the Cardinals, but a different team showed up to Friday’s Class D football semifinal at Raymond Van Wie Stadium.
Franklinville/Ellicottville locked it down defensively, not allowing the Cardinals to score until the fourth quarter, while Billy Slavinski broke out for 207 yards on the ground with three touchdowns in the Titans’ 32-6 victory to book a spot in the finals at Highmark Stadium.
It did not take long for Slavinski to show he was poised for a big night as he broke free for a 93-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
Slavinski then added another big 59-yard touchdown on the ground in the second, a possession after Isaac Towne kept the ball himself for a 27-yard touchdown to take an 18-0 lead into halftime.
Bretton Blecha scored the only receiving touchdown of the game in the third quarter when Towne connected with him for 16 yards and Slavinski added another 30 yarder in the fourth quarter to put an exclamation point on the victory.
Randolph broke the shutout in the fourth quarter when Dom Clark reached paydirt from 5 yards out. The Cardinals were led on the ground by Kevin McElwain with 57 rushing yards.
Defensively, the Titans reeled in two interceptions, one from Blecha and another from Grady Byroads. Randolph’s Jaxon Morrison picked off Towne, while Bryson Pitts had a sack.
The Titans will face the winner of Clymer/Sherman/Panama and Gowanda/Pine Valley today.

WARRIORS CRUISE
SALAMANCA — Not much has gotten in the way of the Salamanca football team this season and getting back to the sectional final proved to be no problem either for the Warriors after they steamrolled Medina 50-7 in the Class C semifinals at Veterans Memorial Park on Friday.
Senior quarterback Maddox Isaac was as efficient as possible with his seven completions as he threw for four touchdowns and 241 yards in the victory.
Isaac’s top target was Cory Holleran with three receptions for three scores and 111 yards, including one for 69 yards. Xavier Peters also caught one pass for a touchdown for 65 yards.
Peters also ran for a pair of touchdowns, including one for 40 yards, while Isaac added another on the ground.
Defensively, Holleran picked off Medina’s Preston Woodworth and he recovered a fumble.

Salamanca will take on Portville/Cuba-Rushford in the Class C championship at Highmark Stadium.
