Southwestern Senior Named CCAA D1 POY
Southwestern’s Connor Young has been one of the top soccer players in Western New York and his senior season with the Trojans may have been his best. Young scored 41 goals and 19 assists while securing a sectional title and a share of the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 crown also earning the league’s Player of the Year award.
Allegany-Limestone knocked off Southwestern at the end of the season to earn a share of the league title before going all the way to the Class C state final. The Gators earned recognition in Division 1 with Jon Luce receiving Coach of the Year and Cooper Wilczewski scoring 15 goals and six assists to receive the league Offensive Player of the Year.
Dunkirk senior Peter Felt was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year and teammate Brady Dobeck earned the Team Sportsmanship Award.
Joining Young among the First-Team All-Stars are fellow seniors Seth Vaughn, Grey Kidder, Bergen Nelson and Gavin Ternullo. Vaughn scored 26 goals and 10 assists, Kidder scored eight goals and seven assists from the midfield, Nelson added another two goals and three assists and Ternullo added an assist from defender.
The Trojans added Second-Team All-Stars in Ryan Ohl, Nolan Lefler, Tate James, Judd Harris and Charles Cooper.
Wilczewski was joined on the First Team by fellow teammates Zander Parsons scoring 13 goals and four assists, Tommy Buffamante scored four goals and an assist as a defender, Carson Kwiatkowski scored four goals and two assists on defense and goalkeeper Donovan Booker backstopped a squad that posted 12 shutouts on the season.
Allegany-Limestone added Second-Team All-Stars in Luke Griffin, Mat Burnett, Noah Hatch and Gian Parry.
Peter Felt represented Dunkirk on the First Team as a defender, scoring twice. The Marauders added Henry Leone, Anthony Bautista and Greg Orcutt to the Second Team.
Olean’s Terrell James scored five goals and five assists for a First-Team spot and Brennan Kielar joined him as a defender with a goal and an assist. Representing Olean on the Second Team are Ethan Woodring, Janis Oswald, Brady Riehle and Sullivan Hoffman.
Jamestown senior Lincoln Carpenter rounded out the First Team scoring nine goals and five assists for the Red & Green. Then making the Second Team for Jamestown are Beckett Lumia and Lucas Arnone.
Despite finishing third in the league, Fredonia only had a pair of Second-Team All-Stars in RJ Koopman and Aiden Czekanski.
The league named Jerome Lee Yaw the Official of the Year.
