Week 4 of the Dot’s Gift Boutique/Northwest Arena Fall Backyard Curling Leagues is in the books. Some teams left in a better spot than others, as the hunt for playoff seeding continues.
MONDAY BUD LIGHT
5:45 LEAGUE
It was an eventful evening for Shoeless Joe’s Pub, who launched themselves into first place. Joe Jackson and Chad Waddington carried the load against Pepsi 35-27 and Gren’s Growlers 21-12.
Cold as Ice made their presence known jumping up a few spots thanks to Michelle Ricker and Sandy Everson. The wonder women helped take down The Rolling Stones 24-18 and pummel Rock’n Rollers 36-16.
Bruce Main and Beth Jermain flipped the season script for TRCurlers. Their first perfect outing was a result of fending off War Vets 29-26 and stomping The Jimmy Shimmy’s 45-26.
Gren’s Growlers still holds a piece of first place but trails in points. Claire Tomassini and Marie Panebianco put away Fruit of the Brooms 32-28.
Right behind is Curling Me Softly, who won a slugfest with Fruit of the Brooms 15-11 aided by Holly Hackett.
Andrew Wiltsie got recognition from The Rolling Stones in their 30-27 thriller over Pepsi.
Dylan Pallozzi called his own drum solo after Rock’n Rollers defeated War Vets 24-23.
Jim Hale and The Jimmy Shimmy’s showed signs of life versus Smooth Operators 21-16.
Tracy Hultin pulled off a big upset for Smooth Operators in the second round by shocking Curling Me Softly 20-17.
MONDAY BUD LIGHT
6:45 LEAGUE
The top-heavy part of this league continues to dominate. Chris Conti put Short & Curly in control by edging Rock Slide 26-22 and Frosty Curlers 12-10.
Lou and Missy Deppas prevailed in a pair of slugfests for Sour Pickles 13-11 over On the Rocks and 18-12 versus Rock Slide.
Pickle Pushers, led by captain Nancy White, didn’t miss a beat against Frosty Curlers 26-18 and Cheese Curls 19-17.
Snow Good at This had the kind of perfect evening they’ve been used to the past couple of years. Leigh-Anne Hendrick and Scott Dibble ambushed Brewster’s Bros. 24-17 and Cheese Curls 19-17.
Nick Rein anchored the defense in Brewster’s Bros. 14-9 victory over Honest Abe.
Kayla Fardink looked polished in On the Rocks’ 27-20 conquest of Honest Abe.
WEDNESDAY STEVE CHAMBERS/JAMESTOWN HONDA 5:30 LEAGUE
The numbers put up in the 5:30 slot were historic, and the offensive fireworks were thunderous.
Mark and Liz Hinderleider catapulted In-Laws Rock up the standings after writing off Stone Cold Maidens 39-36 and We’ve Got the Stones 39-28.
Congratulations to Slone Melhuish who’s in the win column for the first time this season. Kym Eimiller led the charge for two victories, 24-22 versus Legion of Broom and 19-18 over Golfers on Ice.
Nate Ford and J-1 Auto grinded out an overtime shootout with Curling Me Softly 30-28.
Kait Benish and Curling Me Softly got revenge the next time out with 12 Oz. Curls 30-28.
Mike Wissman regrouped his 12 Oz. Curls and cruised by Drunken Sliders 38-22.
The shots started to rack up in the second match for David Mazzone. Drunken Sliders split the night in a classic versus Girls with Stones 47-41.
Mike Dietrich engineered a 34-29 victory for Legion of Broom over Head for the Mountains.
Bob Drake and Golfers on Ice tarnished the perfect season for J-1 Auto 34-29 the final.
Brian Rossey and We’ve Got the Stones survived a close call with Head for the Mountains 36-35.
With all of those contests coming down to the wire, Doris Hale and Stone Cold Maidens also prevailed against Girls with Stones 46-45.
WEDNESDAY STEVE CHAMBERS/JAMESTOWN HONDA 6:30 LEAGUE
Kevin Gastol, Justin Swanson and the 12 oz. Curlers have yet to meet their maker. The group looked invincible in a blowout matchup with The Ice Men 37-18 and a defensive showdown with The Rolling Stones 15-7.
Nick Kahanic and Steve Shelters have The Brush Offs hot on the trail. They remained in the race for first with defeats of Team No Name 24-12 and Smokin Rocks 27-23.
Adam Paterniti made things look like clockwork as Got Stones outlasted HALLFAW 41-35.
Cade Egan and Team No Name also got the best of HALLFAW 24-20.
Carole Siverling carved out a 25-16 win for Curls Gone Wild over Curl or Dye.
George Panebianco continues to make the headlines for In the House. He single-handedly locked down Curl or Dye 22-13.
Matt Hanley and Smokin Rocks almost made backyard curling history by nearly shutting out Keeping it Cool 21-1.
Jaime Allenson got The Rolling Stones back on track 27-23 the final with Got Stones.
Paul Gustafson kept the Ice Men in the mix by knocking off Perfect Stones 27-23.
WEDNESDAY STEVE CHAMBERS/JAMESTOWN HONDA 7:30 LEAGUE
The 12 oz. Curlers offense has been electrifying this season averaging nearly 37 points a game. Eric Scolton and Tim Sturges easily topped that mark in thrashings of PAPER 53-32 and The Dotsmen 47-25.
Grant Olson and Eddie Sundquist have SCISSORS looking sharp as ever. The results weren’t pretty, but they got by Ice & Easy 13-11 and ROCK 33-21.
Daniele Anderson pulled out a gutsy win for Barney’s Hoof Trimming. They topped Curl Power 29-28 at the last second.
Summer Wolcott locked things down the next time out with Haggy Jr. Curling 21-11 picking up the victory for Curl Power.
Beth Hagglund shined yet again for Haggy Jr. Curling’s 37-32 conquest of The Flintstones.
The Dotsmen received key shots from Rob Loll and gave a lesson to Trouble Makers 23-14.
Cliff Sleasman and Rand Machine settled things down in their 20-15 victory over Tomte* Curlers.
Ken Mark stepped up for ROCK who also put Tomte* Curlers to bed 14-10.
The Flintstones had to rely on Jesse Tatoian in an 11-5 grinder with Trouble Makers.
Joe Rollman got back to his savvy ways against Paper 23-16 notching the win for Ice & Easy.
FRIDAY RYAN DEPPAS/LEGEND GROUP 4:30 LEAGUE
The veteran duo of Bud and Nancy Welker led Ba Na Ma Na to a pair of victories over 2 Curls and A Cup 27-24 and Curlews 34-27 to get their team to the .500 mark on the season.
Curl Jam jumped up to a tie for second place this week with two wins over Cold Beer Here 36-29 and On the Rocks 32-29 behind the pair of Liz and Ken Kaltenbach.
Also, cleaning up two wins, was Sweeping Beauties behind strong play from Peter Sullivan and Judy Briggs, as they defeated NAME 44-39 and Frost Bitten Twice Shy 40-22.
The Curlews knocked off the Chestnuts 34-33 as Karen Bloomquist showed off her curling prowess.
Brandon Watson controlled the house in NAME’s second game as they defeated Tracy’s Dog 41-27.
Brenda Degnan used some fancy stickwork to lead Frost Bitten Twice Shy to a win over Button Busters 38-27.
Mike and Barb Lyons led the Chestnuts to big win over Cold Beer Here 27-21.
