Week 3 of the Dot’s Gift Boutique Northwest Arena Backyard Curling League is history; time to cover the stars of the show and all the madness that’s taken place.
MONDAY BUD LIGHT 5:45 LEAGUE
Curling Me Softly climbed to a tie for first place with conquests of The Jimmy Shimmy’s 28-24 and Gren’s Growlers 20-10 thanks to Greg and Julie Fye.
Rich Tyger and Joe Jackson made things look easy as Shoeless Joe’s Pub took care of Rock’n Rollers 34-26 and Cold as Ice 20-15.
The War Vets climbed the ladder of the standings big time. Ken Johnson and Craig Marker paved the way to cruise by The Rolling Stones 35-20 and Fruit of the Brooms 30-23.
Mike Stevenson came up clutch in the insurance match. Gren’s Growlers still holds a share of first place after defeating Smooth Operators 39-27.
Pete Snyder engineered a close victory for Fruit of the Brooms over Pepsi 24-22.
Fred Pellerito ensured it wouldn’t be a winless night for Pepsi as they snuck by The Jimmy Shimmy’s 26-24.
Cold as Ice wrote off Smooth Operators in a slugfest 15-8 behind the defensive strategies of Robert Ricker.
The Rolling Stones remained in the middle of the pack behind Lauren Lapinski. She clutched up to put away TRCurlers 30-22.
Nena Whitmore and Rock’n Rollers had their way with TRCurlers as well, 31-11 was the final.
MONDAY BUD LIGHT 6:45 LEAGUE
Matt Lebarron, Nick Rein and Brewster’s Bros. took charge by combining wins versus The Cheese Curds 30-29 and Frosty Curlers 39-29.
Honest Abe didn’t get the points they needed but were very pleased with the results. Drew Wilcox and Jaime Glatz got the team into the first-place conversation after taking down Rock Slide 33-22 and upsetting Short & Curly 30-27.
Terry and Katie Stronz combined forces for Sour Pickles in their victories against Pickle Pushers 21-12 and The Cheese Curds 19-18.
Michelle Blair and Michelle King got honorable mentions from On the Rocks. They pretty much copied and pasted their efforts with Frosty Curlers 31-17 and Rock Slide 31-18.
Sam Stewart and Short & Curly still cling to a piece of first place after shutting down Snow Good at This 12-9.
Pickle Pushers also shocked Snow Good at This 19-17 behind Sherry Mattoon’s stellar play.
WEDNESDAY STEVE CHAMBERS/JAMESTOWN HONDA 5:30 LEAGUE
J-1 Auto remains the lone team without a tally in the loss column. Nate Ford and Rich Wilson helped grind out some barnburners with Slone Melhuish 29-21 and Legion of Broom 33-22.
Joe and Lindsay Vitello put on quite a performance for Curling Me Softly. After edging Girls with Stones 31-28 they locked down Stone Cold Maidens 28-5.
In-Laws Rock catapulted up the standings due to Bill and Karen Mott. They ambushed Drunken Sliders 37-28 and Golfers on Ice 34-26.
Cecil Miller III carried the load for Legion of Broom in their 30-24 defeat of Girls with Stones.
Ned Baudo put on a vintage performance as Drunken Sliders split the night by taking down We’ve Got the Stones 31-18.
Golfers on Ice breezed by 12 oz. Curlers 31-10 thanks to Jim Craker’s shooting clinic.
Jeff Housler and 12 oz. Curlers used that loss as fuel to stifle Head for the Mountains 17-4.
Jeremy Maggio picked up the offense as Head for the Mountains rebounded versus Slone Melhuish 22-21.
WEDNESDAY STEVE CHAMBERS/JAMESTOWN HONDA 6:30 LEAGUE
12 oz. Curlers were guided by Justin Swanson and Ryan Dalaba in their conquest of Curls Gone Wild 28-16 and In the House 19-13.
The Brush Offs went two for two as Nick Kahanic led them past The Rolling Stones 25-17. Then it was Pat Smith who called his own number in a triple-overtime classic with HALLFAW 39-38.
Amy Thompson, Nate Thornton and Ice Holes completely revamped their season by holding off Smokin Rocks 22-20 and Curl or Dye 31-29.
In the House received key defense from Billy Anderson in their 16-13 battle with Got Stones.
Trey Eklum and Smokin’ Rocks nearly doubled up HALLFAW 37-19.
Ben Snow was the lead architect for Curls Gone Wild in their 26-17 victory over Perfect Stones.
Glen Wilcox led Perfect Stones to a 35-12 beatdown of Keeping it Cool in the second slate.
Eric Rinaldo broke the curse as Keeping it Cool found their first win of the season versus Curl or Dye 21-19.
Capping off the hour, Jeff Lewis and The Rolling Stones fended off Team No Names 22-20.
WEDNESDAY STEVE CHAMBERS/JAMESTOWN HONDA 7:30 LEAGUE
Eric Scolton, Ryan Short and 12 oz. Curlers remain untouched. After breaking the hearts of SCISSORS 22-21 they came out on top in a Texas shootout with TOMTE* Curlers 46-42.
The Dotsmen continue to have their way with opponents. Bryan Olson and Dan Davis didn’t leave any chances for The Flintstones 39-21 and PAPER 29-16.
Ben and Jen Anderson were the dynamic duo for Barney’s Hoof Trimming. Their skills proved to be the difference maker in the matchups with Haggy Jr. Curling 35-17 and The Flintstones 30-24.
Jen Scolton navigated Curl Power to a 13-10 win against ROCK.
Dan Thomas got the stones sliding for TOMTE* Curlers versus Ice & Easy 28-13.
Tough night for Trouble Makers after Eddie Sundquist and SCISSORS sliced them up 18-13.
After that, Blake Bird and PAPER knocked them off 26-25.
FRIDAY RYAN DEPPAS/LEGEND GROUP 4:30 LEAGUE
Big Stones have come into the Friday “Happy Hour” and taken it by storm as they have jumped into first place after three weeks, as they knocked off Curlews 38-22 and Cold Beer Here behind stellar play from Morgan Vail.
Curl Jam went 2-0 on the week behind strong play from Andy and Sophie Horner as they topped The Chestnuts 35-25 and Curlews 35-21.
Button Busters jumped out of the cellar, with two wins of their own, by defeating Curl City 34-23 and NAME 33-16 as Liz Fred and Sara Jones led the way.
The B & B tandem of Brenda and Buddy Degnan combined to be too much in two nail biters over Ba Na Ma Na 28-27 and 2 Curls and A Cup 28-27 to raise their record to .500.
Beth Snow was Sweeping Beauties’s first star as she led her team to a 39-29 victory over Curl City.
The Chestnuts and Mike Lyons took Ba Na Ma Na to the cleaners with a 25-18 win.
Katie Lucas was in the Zone as Tracy’s Dog knocked off Cold Beer Here 45-37 in an instant classic.
