Krenzer Takes First In XC Race At Southwestern Course

Trenton Krenzer of Fredonia toured the 3.1-mile course at Southwestern Central School with a winning time of 17:56 to claim the boys Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association cross country meet, just ahead of Jamestown’s Clevon Wofford (18:01).

Leading the way in the girls’ race was Southwestern’s Emma Lewis (19:20), a shade more than a minute better than Jamestown’s London Hamilton (21:18).

In team scores, the Red & Green won both races, finishing with 31 points in the boys race and 36 points in the girls race.

MAYS, MONTOUR ARE WINNERS

ANGOLA — Leah Mays of Silver Creek/Forestville claimed the girls race, while Cashis Montour of Gowanda won the boys race at Evangola State Park, but Clymer/Sherman/Panama was the team winner in both.

Mays toured the 3.1-mile course in 19:57, while Montour posted a 17:38 to edge teammate Chase Bolen.

The Wolfpack finished with 24 points in the girls race, followed by Silver Creek/Forestville with 52, and Gowanda with 60. Randolph and Cattaraugus-Little Valley were incomplete.

Clymer/Sherman/Panama finished with 28 points to hold off Gowanda, which had 31. Silver Creek/Forestville was third with 64, and Randolph and Cattaraugus-Little Valley were incomplete.

RED DRAGONS SWEEP

ALLEGANY — Maple Grove posted a sweep in a meet at Allegany-Limestone.

For the boys, the Red Dragons’ Ethan Verbosky was the individual winner, posting a time of 15:43, just shy of a minute faster than Frewsburg’s Cody Kent. Maple Grove finished with 15 points, Falconer had 46, and Allegany-Limestone and Frewsburg were incomplete.

For the girls, Elexa Duggan of Allegany-Limestone led the way with a winning time of 19:28, followed by Frewsburg’s Grace Gilevski and Presley Haines of Maple Grove, who tied for second with a 20:59.

The Red Dragons collected 22 points, Allegany-Limestone had 47 and Falconer had 67. Frewsburg was incomplete.
