Kent, Lewis Victorious At Sunset Stampede
IRVING — Frewsburg’s Cody Kent won the Small School boys title and Southwestern’s Emma Lewis won the Small School girls title at the Sunset Stampede Friday evening at Evangola State Park.
Kent toured the 3.1-mile course in 16:34.61 to beat Bishop Timon’s Padraig Hart by just over a second. Gowanda’s Chase Bolen was third in 16:50.70 and the Panthers’ Cashis Montour was fourth in 16:57.93 to lead Gowanda to the Small School team title with 64 points.
Fredonia/Westfield’s Trenton Krenzer was fifth in 16:59.93 as the Hillbillies took second with 69 points.
Franklinville/Ellicottville’s Grant Cornell was sixth (17:01.38), Southwestern’s Donavin Brown was 10th (17:34.94), Frewsburg’s Daniel Peterson was 12th (17:51.31), Fredonia/Westfield’s Jimmy Fagan was 13th (18:12.71), Fredonia/Westfield’s Nathan Keefe was 16th (18:36.13), Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s Seth Carr was 17th (18:37.42), Silver Creek/Forestville’s Benjamin Bock was 18th (18:38.87) and Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s Brent Troutman was 19th (18:44.33) to complete the local runners in the top 20.
In the team standings, Falconer/Cassadaga Valley was third (106), Franklinville/Ellicottville was fourth (135), Southwestern was fifth (141), Maple Grove was eighth (189) and Silver Creek/Forestville was ninth (224).
Lewis won the girls race in 18:13.62, more than 1 minute and 20 seconds faster than second-place Olivia Harmony of West Valley. Silver Creek/Forestville’s Leah Mays was third in 19:37.50 and Salamanca’s Ryanna Brady was fifth in 19:51.62.
Southwestern won the team title with 53 points. After Lewis for the Trojans were seventh-place Tryniti Card (20:46.95) and 13th-place Lillian Weikel (21:52.55) in the top 20.
Fredonia/Westfield was fourth with 119 points, led by sixth-place Meredith Lendt (20:23.64) and eighth-place Izzie Czekanski (20:51.83).
Other local runners in the top 20 included: 10th-place Grace Gilevski of Frewsburg (21:32.69), 11th-place Svea Winchester of Maple Grove (21:35.52), 12th-place Rhianna Woods of Gowanda (21:49.97), 18th-place Emma Golembieski of Silver Creek/Forestville (22:31.61) and 19th-place Kaylin Lemon of Salamanca (22:33.33).
In the team standings, Franklinville/Ellicottville was fifth (149), Silver Creek/Forestville was sixth (151), Gowanda was seventh (170), Falconer/Cassadaga Valley was eighth (186) and Maple Grove was ninth (199).
