Frewsburg Takes Down Red Jacket

FREWSBURG — Trent Lewis completed nine passes for 189 yards and three touchdowns, and added another two scores on the ground as the Frewsburg Bears beat Red Jacket 53-14 in 8-man football Friday night.

Frewsburg’s Blake Weaver picked up an interception and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown on Red Jacket’s first offensive play of the game.

Lewis then completed a 38-yard pass to Weaver before Lewis scored on a 2-yard touchdown run.

After Red Jacket’s Tristan Bellis completed a 44-yard completion to 6-foot-9 tight end Truman Hill, the Cardinals’ Hasen Weatherbee scored on a 2-yard run.

Frewsburg then put up a 30-point second quarter. Lewis scored on a 36-yard run before throwing touchdown passes of 39 yards to Weaver, 16 yards to Chase Haglund and 18 yards to Henry Eckert.

Senior Mason Eckman capped the Bears’ scoring with a 1-yard run in the third quarter.

Weaver led Frewsburg defensively with 14 tackles and the interception. Lewis ran for 64 yards and Eckman finished with 58 yards on the ground.

HERD TOPS EDEN/NORTH COLLINS

EDEN — Jacob Roth carried 24 times for 211 yards and three touchdowns as Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove beat Eden/North Collins 47-22 in Class C South football Friday.

Charlie Reichenbach had eight carries for 58 yards and a touchdown, and Max Parmentier also ran for a 10-yard score for the Herd (5-2, 4-2).

Parmentier also completed two passes for 22 yards with one being a 17-yard touchdown to Grant Zahm. Rider Carlson made four of his seven point-after kicks.

Defensively, David Markham was in on 18 tackles, including three for a loss. Taylor Jones was in on 12 tackles and intercepted a pass, while Zach Markham was in on eight tackles. Roger Markham chipped in six tackles and a 12-yard touchdown on an interception return.

The Raiders fell to 3-4 overall and 2-4 in the league.

TITANS ROLL IN CLASS D

CATTARAUGUS — Franklinville/Ellicottville led 28-0 at halftime on its way to a 41-8 defeat of Cattaraugus-Little Valley in Class D action Friday.

Isaac Towne completed three passes to Bretton Blecha for 116 yards and two touchdowns, while Brady Tatlow also completed a 32-yard pass for the Titans (4-3, 3-2), who outgained the Timberwolves (1-6, 0-4) 302-153.

In addition to Blecha’s two touchdown receptions, Landon Learn returned the opening kickoff 70 yards for a score, Matthew Spittler scored on a fumble recovery, Towne ran for a 40-yard score and Collin Mooney ran for a 1-yard touchdown.

Tucker Barrick scored Cattaraugus-Little Valley’s lone touchdown and Nyquon Boswell added the 2-point conversion run.
