Falconer Earns 15th Victory With Sweep
FALCONER — Emily Zaranek had 12 kills, seven digs and a block as Falconer closed its Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 girls volleyball schedule with a 25-11, 25-4, 25-9 sweep of Dunkirk.
Hannah Melquist had 27 assists, five kills, four aces and six digs; Mylie Zaranek had six kills, four aces and 10 digs; Kaylee Green had five kills, five aces and two blocks; and Nylah Sharpe had seven digs for the Golden Falcons (15-3, 9-3).
The Marauders fell to 1-17 overall, including 0-12 in the league.
BULLDOGS DOWN SHERMAN
BROCTON — Evie Morrison, Grace Lundin, Zoe Spiller and Aryana Nickerson combined for 20 aces as Brocton defeated Sherman 22-25, 25-19, 25-10, 25-15 in nonleague action.
Morrison had six aces, 21 assists, five kills, seven digs and two blocks; Lundin had seven aces, an assist and 17 digs; Spiller had three aces, an assist, 12 kills, four digs and five blocks; and Nickerson had four aces, a kill, five digs and three blocks for the Bulldogs (6-11, 2-8 CCAA D3).
Madison Emory had five aces, an assist and a dig; Kelsey Wagner had three aces, a kill and six digs; and Jayden Zenns had three aces, a kill and a dig for the Wildcats (10-9, 6-4 CCAA D4).
CLYMER UPENDS WESTFIELD
WESTFIELD — Janelle Burchanowski had two kills, 14 assists, two blocks, 12 digs and eight aces as Clymer defeated Westfield 20-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-18 in nonleague action.
Lily Johnson had eight kills, a block, seven digs and eight aces, while Elli Bodamer had five kills, two blocks, 10 digs and an ace for the Pirates (14-5, 10-0 CCAA D4).
Avery Smith had six kills; Maddie Burgess had 21 assists and two aces; and Sydney Hotchkiss had four kills, five digs, an ace and a block for the Wolverines (10-7, 6-4 CCAA D3).
Westfield honored Hotchkiss, Eva Gnadzinski, Charly Mathews and Alina Franklin on Senior Night.
“It’s been a great season for them,” Westfield head coach Greg Birner said. “I wish them the best as they move on.”
Westfield won the jayvee match.
