Waid claimed the 200-yard freestyle (2:24.83) and the 500-yard freestyle (6:30.94) for the Bears. Leah Waite doubled for the Hillbillies, winning the 50-yard freestyle (28.30) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:22.54).

“I knew they were going to get us,” Fredonia coach Allie Saye said. “Most of their team are veterans, but we held them to only a 40-point win. That’s our best against Frewsburg/Falconer yet, boys or girls, and we got two Class A performances.”

They were Olivia Burlingame in the 100-yard backstroke, and she missed the 200-yard individual medley by about 1.5 seconds; and Waite in the 100-yard breaststroke, and she just missed the 50-yard freestyle by .16 seconds.

Other highlights for the Hillbillies were Gabby Spaulding for covering the 500-yard freestyle (dropping more than 50 seconds), the 100-yard breaststroke (dropping 16 seconds) and swimming a leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay

TROJANS TAKE DOWN HUSKIES

OLEAN — Clarissa Hren and Annalisa Krug were both doublewinners as Southwestern/Jamestown took down Olean/Portville in CCAA action 113-56.

Hren swan a Class A qualifying time of 2:10.28 to win the 200-yard freestyle, then she performed a sectional qualifying time of 1:05.86 in the 100 backstroke for her second victory. Krug swam Class A paces in both her victories, winning the 50 freestyle at 27.15 and then claiming the 100 butterfly at 1:08.29.

Abigail Cama also swam a time good for the Class A finals for the Trojans, winning the 100 breaststroke at 1:22.78.
