Allegany-Limestone Eliminates Southwestern 4-1

ALLEGANY — No. 1 Allegany-Limestone led just 1-0 at halftime, but three second-half goals sent the Gators into the Section VI Class B championship game with a 4-1 semifinal win over No. 4 Southwestern on Wednesday evening.

Cait Kellogg scored from Kennedy Honeck in the first half for Allegany-Limestone.

Liza Giardini scored in the 45th minute from Abby Peck to make it 2-0 before Madison Honeck made it 3-0 from Peck.

The Trojans got their lone goal in the 65th minute as Marlana Cresanti converted a Kenzie Rogers pass to make it 3-1.

Giardini capped the scoring in the 76th minute from Kellogg.

Braya Beaver made seven saves for Southwestern and Chloe Baker made four saves for the Gators, who will take on No. 2 Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove in Saturday’s 10:30 a.m. final at Hamburg High School. In two matchups this season, Allegany-Limestone beat the Golden Cougars 2-0 on Sept. 17 and Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove beat the Gators 1-0 in overtime on Oct. 3.
