Eagles Blank Black Knights; Cardinals Christen Turf With Win

SILVER CREEK — Devin Hewes had his breakout game for the Eagles reeling in three touchdown catches as Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton stormed past Silver Creek/Forestville for a 34-0 Class C South football victory on Friday.
The Eagles (2-1, 2-1) dominated all three phases of the game from their defense posting a shutout, to a Nick Jacobson 61-yard punt return that set up an easy touchdown and Brayden Gibbs shining through the air with three passing touchdowns.
Gibbs was efficient going 15 of 23 for three touchdowns and 113 yards, while also rushing a score at the goal line. Hewes finished the game with eight receptions adding up to 77 yards and the three touchdowns, while Thandon Bensink rushed for 88 yards on 14 carries.
Defensively, Tristen Gibbs made seven tackles and added a fumble recovery and both Asher Olson and Mason Maring had five tackles.
“Obviously we have high hopes for this year and to do that you need to start stringing wins together,” Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton head coach Ryan Gibbs stated. “Especially in Class C South it is important to start fast. I felt we controlled all three phases of the game today.”
Silver Creek/Forestville stumbles to 0-3 overall and in the league and hosts Southwestern next week.

WOLFPACK ROLLS PAST PANTHERS
SOUTH DAYTON — Tate Catanese went 11 of 17 for 202 yards and four touchdowns as Clymer/Sherman/Panama beat Gowanda/Pine Valley 42-12 in Class D action.
Catanese threw touchdowns of 33 yards to Bryce Hinsdale, 8 and 27 yards to Carter Brink, and 60 yards to Alex Barmore.
The Wolfpack (2-1, 2-0) led 35-6 at halftime. Travis Owens added touchdown runs of 1 and 3 yards to cap the scoring.
Barmore finished with four catches for 82 yards, while Hinsdale finished with four catches for 62 yards. Collin Ryan and Bryan Gomez each had six tackles, while Hinsdale, Brink and Wyatt Eggleston had interceptions in the victory.
Camryn Slade ran for 36 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown, before leaving with an injury for the Panthers (1-2, 1-1). Winter Rivera caught three passes for 59 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown from Jayden Fish.
Defensively, Slade was in on 12 tackles, Mason Wilson was in on nine and Winter Mentley-Peters was in on seven. Kyan Austin and Isiah Washington each had an interception.

CARDINALS POST NONLEAGUE WIN
RANDOLPH — Connor Braley reached paydirt four times as he rushed for 137 yards on 14 attempts as Randolph christened its new turf at Raymond Van Wie Field with a dominant nonleague victory over East Aurora/Holland 49-19.
Kevin McElwain got the scoring started in the opening quarter as he danced in for a 35-yard touchdown run and finished with 48 yards, Reagan Smith added another 42 yards on the ground and quarterback Jaxson Morrison rushed for 40 on two attempts.
The Cardinals (1-2, 0-1 Class D) scored through the air as Morrison connected on his one pass with Baker Huntington for 17 yards.
Defensively, Randolph’s Alex Garland returned one of his two interceptions for a touchdown and Morrison reeled in another.
Once Randolph established its 49-0 halftime lead, East Aurora/Holland (0-3, 0-2 Class B2) managed to get on the scoreboard in the second half. Connor Schmidt finished 10 of 27 for the Blue Devils with 227 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. Tanner Radovich was the top receiver with two touchdowns on a pair of receptions for a total of 103 yards.

BAEHR HAS BIG NIGHT
PORTVILLE — Mathis Baehr had 229 yards of total offense and four touchdowns as Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove beat Portville/Cuba-Rushford 34-14 in Class C South.
Baehr ran 19 times for 143 yards, including touchdown runs of 9, 13, 15 and 12 yards, while also catching three passes for 86 yards for the Herd (3-0, 2-0).
Jacob Roth completed five passes for 168 yards, including an 83-yard scoring toss to Rider Carlson.
Defensively, David Markham was in on 21 tackles, including three for a loss, and recovered a fumble; Zach Markham was in on 13 tackles, including one for a loss; and Logan Quattrone was in on nine tackles, including one for a loss, and recovered a fumble for Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove.
Eli Sleggs completed 11 passes for 191 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown to Aidan DeFazio, for the Panthers (1-2, 0-2). Maxx DeYoe ran for 71 yards.

TITANS BOUNCE BACK
WILSON — Franklinville/Ellicottville blew a lead last week and dropped a game in the fourth quarter. This Friday the Titans bounced back in a big way as they stormed to a big Class D victory at Wilson 41-13.
Isaac Towne led Titans (2-1, 1-0) attack from under center throwing for 304 yards and four touchdowns as he went 13 for 20. On top of that, Towne also kept the ball for a touchdown with his legs and finished with 51 yards on seven attempts.
Bretton Blecha was Towne’s top target with 152 receiving yards and two touchdowns on five receptions, while Matthew Spittler finished with a TD and 79 yards and Gannon Callahan reeled in three catches for 60 yards and a score.
Spittler also returned a fumble 36 yards for a touchdown, while Collin Mooney led the team with four tackles.
Wilson (0-3, 0-1) eventually got on the board in the third quarter when Vic Cusatis connected with Ryan Hough for a 10-yard touchdown pass. Cusatis finished 7 of 13 for 125 yards and two scores that both went to Hough.
