Chaut. Co. Gov’t Wins Softball In Battle Of Businesses
Large Division competitor Chautauqua County Government took the first place win in the 36th annual Jamestown Area YMCA Battle of the Businesses softball tournament at the Jones and Gifford Park this past Saturday.
The team consisted of Collin Barmore, Vinny Certo, Reilly Enlow, Sydney Moats, Brian Gunnell, Joey Horton, Bethany Ibhawa, Mike Kapuscinski, Casey Miller, Oscar Cordero and Wilson Sanchez.
Falconer Central School and SKF went home with second and third place, respectively.
The small division softball event at Bergman Park was eventually canceled due to the rainy weather and wet field conditions. All competing teams received 50 points to their score.
In the disc golf competition at Bergman Park, a new event added to the event lineup, was managed by disc golf guru and volunteer Frank Besse.
Large Division competitor Cummins was the victor followed by SKF and Bush Furniture.
In the small division, Trinity Biotech/Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union’s Art Faix and Gerri Mueller finished on top with Fancher Chair Company in second place followed by Southern Tier Brewing/Distilling in third place.
Today’s events include small division volleyball at the Jamestown YMCA at 6 p.m. and large division curling at the Northwest Arena at 6 p.m.
The Battle is sponsored by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York, Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union and Eventz by Scott.
