Kozlowski Earns Medalist At CCAA D1 Qualifier

Eighteen Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association boys golfers punched their tickets to the Section VI state qualifier with their performances Monday at Tri-County Country Club at Bartlett Country Club.

Ten CCAA Division 1 golfers will be joined by Fredonia’s Ryan Kelly, while eight CCAA Division 2 golfers will also participate in the state qualifier next Monday at Bartlett Country Club in Olean.

Kelly had already qualified for the state qualifier by virtue of his appearance at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships last spring.

Dunkirk’s Robert Kozlowski earned Division 1 medalist honors Monday with a 74. He was followed by Kelly, who despite already qualifying, shot a 78. Maple Grove’s Evan Steffen and Jamestown’s Evan Maloney were next with matching 80s.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield’s Carson Swanson fired an 82 and Southwestern’s Austin McKotch had an 83. Jamestown’s Tyler Salvaggio was next with an 84. Fredonia’s Grant Abbey, Jamestown’s Hunter Johnson and Fredonia’s Cannon LeGranto all had 86s and Clymer/Sherman/Panama’s Tate Catanese grabbed the last qualifying spot with an 87.

Jamestown’s Tyler Maloney is the first alternate with an 88.

In Division 2 qualifying at Bartlett Country Club, Allegany-Limestone’s Ryan Lechner earned medalist honors with a 79.

Randolph’s Matt Beaver and Carter Davis tied for second with 80s, followed by Cattaraugus-Little Valley’s Owen Wright with an 82. Allegany-Limestone’s Michael Peterson shot 83 and Portville’s Luke Petryszak tied Randolph’s Cody Slade for the final qualifying spots with 85s.

Ellicottville’s Christopher Calarco earned the first alternate spot with an 86.
