YMCA Hosts Howling Pickleball Tournament
LAKEWOOD — The two-day Howling Pickleball Tournament held on Halloween weekend at the Lakewood YMCA with 73 players and seven divisions.
Following are the results:
On Saturday, Darlene Morse and Kay Gould claimed gold in 3.0-and-under Coed Doubles; Venilda Barringer and Gary Frederickson took silver and Jeanne Wiebenga and Pam Smoulder won bronze.
In Men’s 3.5 Doubles, Will Craddock and Kyle Woodside first, followed by Lenny Kalkbrenner and Billy Stives and Rick Engelbert and Richard Stevenson, who finished second and third respectively.
In Women’s 3.5 Doubles, Jane Brueckl and Michaelle Alonge took gold, followed by Eileen LaPorte and Jill Lawson, and Claire Miller and Julia Lewis. In 3.5 Mixed Doubles, Jane Brueckl and Brian Altamirano won gold, followed by Kendra Craddock and Donald Morris Jr, and Jill and David Lawson.
The tournament finished Sunday evening with the 4.0 Mixed Doubles.
Sarah Woods and Jonathan Schwandt placed first, followed by Anna and Anthony Pettway, and Megan Lundin and Jake Carrol. On Sunday morning, Jon Cable and Scott Read took gold in the Men’s 4.0 Doubles, followed by Anthony Wozniak and Jonathan Schwandt, and Dan Badzinski and Jonathan Prasad. In Women’s 4.0 Doubles, Brenna Van Maren, Marlene Sandberg and Sarah Woods took gold followed by Margot Hickey and Alice Lewis-Hickey, and Marlene Sandberg and Sarah Woods.
