FREDONIA — The Southwestern boys soccer team needed a victory over Fredonia at SUNY Fredonia on Monday to clinch the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association West Division.

Despite not having its strongest season, Fredonia made sure that if a rival school like Southwestern was going to win the league title that it would not be easy. Goals were not easy to come by as Southwestern’s Seth Vaughn scored the only one of the match to give the Trojans a 1-0 victory and the league title.

Southwestern (12-1-0, 8-0-0) waited nearly an hour for Vaughn to find the back of the net with Connor Young picking up the assist on the lone tally. The Trojans will look to finish a perfect league schedule against Olean on Tuesday and Fredonia again on Thursday.

Fredonia (4-6-1, 2-5-1) is back in action tonight when it hosts Allegany-Limestone at SUNY Fredonia at 8 p.m.

Starting at $2.99/week.
