Jamestown Improves To 2-0 With 35-6 Win
NIAGARA FALLS — Jamestown’s Week Two performance mirrored Week One.
That makes head coach Tom Langworthy very pleased.
“I was really happy with the effort of our guys,” he said after the Red Raiders downed Niagara Falls 35-6 in a Class AA football game Saturday afternoon. “They played physical, tough and our style. … I felt we were in control from the beginning of the game to the very end.”
Carsen Bane rushed for 138 yards on 15 carries, scored three touchdowns on runs of 32, 15 and 11 yards, and had a 2-point conversion; Jack Carlson tossed a pair of TD passes — 11 yards to Carson Panebianco and 11 yards to Xavier Foust; and Ella Propheter booted three of four point-after tries.
“We’re just at the very beginning (of the season), so it’s really exciting,” Langworthy said.
Niagara Falls’ only points came in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by Ken Armstrong. Otherwise, Jamestown’s defense, which limited Baldwinsville to one TD in the season opener, was stout once again.
Leading the way was Keith Miller, who collected nine tackles, including three for loss, recorded a sack and blocked a punt that led to the Red Raiders’ final touchdown. Other standouts on that side of the ball were Bane (11 tackles, including four for loss); Cole Bloomquist (10 tackles, including four for loss); and Tommy Pratton (three tackles for loss and two sacks).
The Red Raiders (2-0) will take their unbeaten record to Williamsville East for a nonleague game at 7 p.m. Thursday.
