Corrine Inkley, Huntington, Rowland Shine At States For Randolph

MIDDLETOWN — Corinne Inkley and Jaiden Huntington earned medals on the opening day of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Track & Field Championships on Friday at Middletown High School.

Talon Rowland and a Dunkirk relay team performed pretty well, too.

Landon Stormer, Cody Kent, Carson Conley, Leighanne Swan, Roan Kelly, Emma Lewis, Jada Cole and Nick Jacobson hope to do so today.

Inkley, a Randolph senior, tied for sixth overall and took third in the girls Division II pole vault, clearing 9 feet, 10 feet and 11 feet on her first attempt at each height Friday. Inkley then missed at all three of her attempts at 11 feet, 6 inches.

Huntington, a Randolph senior, finished seventh overall and third in Division II in the boys discus with a throw of 156 feet, 3 inches on Friday. Warsaw’s Matthew Auble won the overall and Division II title with a toss of 182 feet, 11 inches. Queensbury’s Kyle Ball was the Division I champion at 164 feet, 9 inches.

Rowland, a Randolph junior, took eighth in the boys Division II 400-meter final with a time of 49.79 seconds. OJ Singletary of UPrep Rochester won the Division II title in 47.58 seconds.

Dunkirk’s 1,600-meter relay team of senior Jordan Lockett, sophomore Johnee Thomas, junior Michael Hanlon and junior Lucas Lawrie placed eighth in Division II with a time of 3:27.96. Bishop Loughlin’s Jelani Johnson, Kyaire Lawson, Rashaun Uche and Christian Walker won with a time of 3:21.34.

Conley, a Randolph senior, is currently seventh overall and fourth in Division II in the boys pentathlon with 1,611 points. Conley trails overall leader Xander Provost by 213 points and Division II leader Ethan Owen of Beekmantown by 167 points heading into today’s final events — the long jump and the 1,500 meters.

Conley ran the 110-meter hurdles in 17.31 seconds to earn 592 points, cleared 5 feet, 5.75 inches in the high jump to earn 520 points and threw the shot put 33 feet, 6.5 inches to earn 499 points.

Swan, a Clymer/Sherman/Panama senior, currently sits sixth overall and second in Division II in the girls pentathlon with 1,881 points. Swan trails overall leader Imani Pugh of Rome Free Academy by 269 points and Division II leader Jadyn Mullen of Alexander by 189 points with two events remaining — the long jump and the 800 meters.

Swan ran the 100-meter hurdles in 15.94 seconds to earn 722 points, cleared 4 feet, 11.75 inches in the high jump to earn 701 points and threw the shot put 29 feet, 2.5 inches for another 458 points.

Hanlon placed fifth in his heat of the boys Division II 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.02 seconds, and took 11th place overall. Taconic Hills’ Neil Howard won the overall and Division II title with a time of 53.21 seconds, while Archbishop Stepinac’s David Davitt won the Division 1 crown at 54.24 seconds.

Randolph sophomore Caden Inkley cleared on his second attempt at both 11 feet, 6 inches and 12 feet, 6 inches, but missed on three attempts at 13 feet, 6 inches to finish 24th overall and 11th in Division II in the boys pole vault. Howard won the overall and Division II title at 15 feet, 6 inches. Warwick Valley’s Luke Beattie won the Division I championship at 15 feet, 3 inches.

Stormer, a Frewsburg junior, won Heat 1 of the boys Division II 200-meter dash with a time of 21.89 seconds and is seeded third for today’s final. Southwestern senior Michael Butterfield took fifth in his heat with a time of 22.59 seconds and finished 13th overall.

In Heat 4 of the boys Division II 100-meter dash preliminaries, Stormer took second with a time of 11.26 seconds, but missed out on the finals with the 19th-best time.

Allegany-Limestone senior Angelina Napoleon set a state-meet record by winning the girls overall and Division II 800 meters in 2:03.97. Cicero-North Syracuse’s Kate Putman won the Division I crown in 2:02.25.

West Hempstead’s Victoria Guerrier won the girls Division II 400-meter title with a time of 55.65 seconds. Franklinville/Ellicottville junior Tyyetta Herman was third in 57.33 seconds and Portville junior Jenna Wyant was ninth in 58.95 seconds. Hempstead’s Anissa Moore was the Division I champion in 55.72 seconds.

Herman took third in her heat with a time of 12.66 seconds in the girls Division II 100-meter preliminaries, but missed out on the finals with a 13th-place finish. She took second in her heat with a time of 25.69 seconds in the 200-meter preliminaries, but missed out on today’s finals with a 10th-place showing.

Guerrier’s twin sister, Gloria, won the girls Division II 400-meter hurdles in 59.74 seconds, while Ballston Spa’s Harriet Healey took the Division I title in 1:02.01.

Marlboro’s Juliana Juras captured the overall and Division II girls discus title with a throw of 132 feet, 10 inches, and Liverpool’s Allie Cary won the Division I crown at 130 feet, 10 inches.

West Hempstead’s Jurrel Hall won the overall and Division II triple jump title with a leap of 48 feet, 10.25 inches, and Central Islip’s Ryan Antwi won the Division I title at 46 feet, 11.5 inches.

Webster Schroeder’s Corintia Griffith claimed the girls overall and Division I triple jump championship with a leap of 40 feet, 6.25 inches, while Dalton School’s Nyla Blake-Soden was the Division II winner at 38 feet, 3.75 inches.

Auble won the overall and Division II boys shot put crown with a throw of 59 feet, 3.5 inches. Shenendehowa’s Braiden Pulver won Division I at 55 feet, 8 inches.

Hilton’s Jake Palermo was the boys Division I 400-meter winner in 47.89 seconds.

Clarkstown South’s Julian Rime was the boys 800-meter Division I and overall champion with a time of 1:52.68, while James I. O’Neill’s Jackson Smith won Division II in 1:54.86.

William Floyd’s Laduke Harris won the boys overall and Division I long jump crown at 22 feet, 11.75 inches, while East Rochester’s Manuel Sepulveda won the Division II title at 22 feet, 6.75 inches.

Singletary led his UPrep 400-meter relay team to a first-place finish in Division II with a time of 41.82 seconds. He was joined by Juelz Russell, Jayvon Johnson and Christopher Jean. Iona Prep’s Justin Hargraves, Terron Johnson, Marcus Nahim and Kyle Stewart won the Division 1 championship in 41.55 seconds.

Webster Schroeder’s Camryn Cole claimed the girls overall and Division I long jump title at 18 feet, 8 inches, while Rondout Valley’s Kayla Oakes was the Division II winner at 18 feet, .25 inches.

Commack’s Julie Thomas was the girls overall and Division I shot put champion at 43 feet, 2.75 inches, while Wellsville’s Kaylee Oswald was the Division II winner at 37 feet, 10 inches.

Blake-Soden, Nicole Swan, Sasha Galbraith and Danielle Jefferson won the Division II 400-meter relay for Dalton School in 48.93 seconds, while Bronxville’s Juliet Winiecki, Mai Ly Reinking, Kara Kochansky and Danielle Dragoni claimed the Division II title in 48.90 seconds.

Washingtonville’s Jaiden Bradshaw, Malachi Taylor, Joe Napolitano and David Gerdin took the boys Division I 1,600-meter relay in 3:20.55.

Bronxville’s 400-meter relay quartet ran it back with a Division II 1,600-meter relay title in 3:59.15, while Burnt Hills-Balston Lake’s Samantha Torres, Cassidy Robleno, Alexandra O’Rourke and Mia Paolino won the Division I race in 3:52.65.

Monroe-Woodbury’s Collin Gilstrap won the boys overall and Division I 3,200-meter title in 9:04.72, while Pulaski’s Luke Tighe was the Division II champion in 9:10.82.

Cornwall’s Karrie Baloga was the girls overall and Division 1 3,000-meter champion in 9:24.86, while Bayport-Bluepoint’s Sophia McInnes was the Division II winner in 9:43.85.

Kent, a Frewsburg sophomore, will compete in the boys 3,000-meter steeplechase today; Kelly, a Randolph junior, will run the 1,600 meters; Lewis, a Southwestern eighth-grader, will run the 2,000-meter steeplechase; Cole, a Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton sophomore, will compete in the girls high jump; and Jacobson, a Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton freshman, will compete in the boys high jump.
