Warriors’ Ross Named Co-Player Of The Year In CCAA D3
Portville senior Michael Cole and Salamanca junior Jaxson Ross split the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 baseball top honors as the league all-star team was recently released.
Cole, who went 4-0 with a 0.89 earned run average for the Panthers, and Ross, who went 7-0 with a 1.82 ERA for the Warriors, were named co-Players of the Year.
Cattaraugus-Little Valley’s John Forster was named the league’s Coach of the Year and the Timberwolves also received the Sportsmanship Award with junior Camden Young the Individual Sportsmanship Award winner for Cattaraugus-Little Valley.
Ross was joined on the First Team by senior teammates Zaron Tucker (IF, .327) and Jorden Ambuske (OF, .435) and sophomore Jake Herrick (IF, .355).
Cole was joined on the First Team by senior teammates Drew Langdon (C, .500) and Mario Pascucci (OF, .314) and junior Luke Petryszak (P, 5-1, 0.19 ERA).
North Collins had a pair of players represented on the First Team. Junior pitcher Derek Ebersole went 5-1 with a 1.66 ERA and junior infielder Matthew Warsaw hit .355.
Silver Creek/Forestville had a pair of outfielders named to the First Team. Senior Kam Sakpal hit .365 and junior Aiden Piccolo hit .400.
Franklinville also had a pair of players named to the First Team. Junior outfielder Noah Shenk hit .283 and sophomore infielder Bretton Blecha hit .255.
Ellicottville junior catcher Hunter Smith (.300) and Randolph senior infielder Payton Slade (.463) rounded out the First Team.
Cattaraugus-Little Valley junior infielder Nate Wolf (.258) was the final member of the First Team.
Silver Creek/Forestville was represented on the Second Team by senior pitcher Max Vigue (5-0, 1.79 ERA) and senior outfielder Joe Villafranca (.339).
North Collins senior catcher Matthew Sweet (.288) was joined by junior infielder Asher Parnitzke (.279) for the Eagles.
Ellicottville senior pitcher Caedon Wyatt (2-2, 4.20) and senior outfielder Gian Nuzzo (.250) were also named to the Second Team.
Salamanca senior catcher Jaxon Tarr (.286) and senior outfielder Andy Herrick (.282) were joined by Franklinville sophomore pitcher Matthew Spittler (2-2, 6.23) and sophomore infielder Isaac Towne (.289).
Cattaraugus-Little Valley freshman infielder (.219) and Young (.238), Portville senior infielder Nik Manroe (.357) and junior outfielder Ethan Obergfell (.385) and Randolph sophomore infielder David Malone (.356) rounded out the Second Team.
Individual Sportsmanship Award winners in addition to Young were: Ellicottville’s Christian Swalcy, Franklinville’s Jacob Dahlke, Warsaw and Sweet from North Collins, Portville’s Karsen Padlo, Randolph’s Kyle Senn, Salamanca’s Corey Bish and Silver Creek/Forestville’s Wyatt Golembieski.
