Kennedy, Butterfield, Miller Double For Boys

It’s still only April, but the Southwestern boys 400-meter relay set a school record to highlight the Trojans’ 122-19 victory over Fredonia in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Division 1 track & field meet Wednesday at the Sirianni Athletic Complex.

The quartet of Declan Kennedy, Michael Butterfield, Matt Butterfield and Matt Burlingame posted a time of 44.9 to set the new mark.

Michael Butterfield also captured the 100 meters (11.0), the 200 meters (22.7) and the 400 meters (54.3); Kennedy claimed the 110-meter high hurdles (16.0) and the 400-meter intermediate hurdles (1:02); and Chris Miller won the triple jump (38-7) and the high jump (5-6).

STORMER STANDS OUT

FREWSBURG — Landon Stormer was a triple winner and Juvenal Diaz-Cortes won two events to lead Frewsburg to an 88-49 Division 3 victory over Clymer/Sherman/Panama.

Stormer claimed the 100 meters (11.1), 400 meters (50.4) and 200 meters (22.9), while Diaz-Cortes captured the 1,600 meters (4:56.1) and 800 meters (2:07.1) for the Bears (2-0, 1-0).

The Wolfpack fell to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the league.

Behind a pair of individual wins by Jordan Braymiller, the Jamestown boys opened their track & field season by downing Olean 89-52 at Strider Field.

Braymiller claimed the 110-meter high hurdles (19.3) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.8) for the winners.

Doubling for the Huskies was Chris Bargy in the shot put (35-9) and the discus (102-5).
