Maple Grove Rolls To 5-1 Victory Over Westfield/Brocton

WESTFIELD — Jonah Foley scored twice as Maple Grove took care of Westfield/Brocton in a 5-1 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Central Division matchup Monday at the NorthLake Family Recreation Center.

The Red Dragons (3-1-1, 2-0-0) took advantage of a Wolverines’ own goal to take a 1-0 lead and then Eli Moore scored from Nathan Cresanti to make it 2-0.

Westfield/Brocton’s Carson Swanson scored from Aiden Covert to make it 2-1, but Maple Grove added two more goals before halftime.

First, Foley tallied from Drew Oste in the 34th minute before Trey DeMink scored from Dan Schlemmer in the 38th minute.

Foley added the final goal in the 78th minute from Moore.

Aaron Fuller made 12 saves for the Wolverines (2-3-0, 1-1-0) and Cresanti made four for the Red Dragons.

TABONE NETS HAT TRICK

FREDONIA — Sal Tabone had three goals to lead the Fredonia Hillbillies past the Dunkirk Marauders 6-0 at SUNY Fredonia on Monday night in West Division action.

Sam Murphy had two goals for the Hillbillies (3-1-1, 2-0-0) while Kaden Ritenburg had one goal and one assist. Andrew Cowan was in goal and had three saves for the game.

Dunkirk drops to 0-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the league. Greg Orcutt made 17 saves in defeat.

EAGLES EDGE F/CV

ELLICOTTVILLE — A pair of first-half goals held up for Ellicottville in a 2-1 East Division victory over Falconer/Cassadaga Valley.

Owen Doherty scored from Sam Edwards in the seventh minute and then returned the favor to Edwards in the 30th minute for the Eagles (3-1-1, 2-0-0).

Haydn Myers tallied from Alex Reynolds in the 77th minute for the Golden Cougars (1-3-1, 0-1-1).

CARDINALS COAST

RANDOLPH — A 5-0 first half sent Randolph to a 9-1 East Division win over Gowanda/Pine Valley.

Griffin Nelson had two first-half goals while Brendan Good, Cooper Freeman and Mathurin Griffith also scored in the opening 40 minutes for the Cardinals (4-1-0, 2-0-0).

After the break, Drew Hind scored twice before Ryder Smith and Clayton Crouse also scored.

Freeman had five assists while Hind, Griffith and Zak Kachermeyer each had one for Randolph.

Noah Frontuto scored for the Panthers (0-4-0, 0-2-0) in the 63rd minute to end the shutout.

Kyle Senn made four saves for Randolph and Brandon Yoris made five for Gowanda/Pine Valley.

TROJANS TRIM OLEAN

OLEAN — Nolan Froah, James Pirrello and Connor Young each scored for Southwestern as it edged Olean 3-2 in West Division play.

One of the Huskies’ goals came from Quintin Allen on an assist by Alex Linderman.

The Trojans improved to 4-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the league while Olean fell to 0-6-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the league.

COLE, PASCUCCI SHINE

PORTVILLE — Michael Cole and Mario Pascucci each scored twice as Portville shut out Salamanca/Cattaraugus-Little Valley 7-0 in the East Division.

Colin German, Simon Szymanski and Brady German also scored for the Panthers (3-2-1, 1-0-1). Cole had two assists while Brady German, Pascucci and Aiden Weimer each had one.

The WarWolves fell to 0-4-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the league.

EBERSOLE IS KEY

NORTH COLLINS — Derek Ebersole scored a pair of second-half goals as North Collins beat Silver Creek/Forestville 3-1 in the Central Division.

Austin Kehr tallied from Montana Robbins in the 31st minute and Scott Armbruster assisted on Ebersole’s goal in the 78th minute for the Eagles (2-1-0, 1-1-0).

The Black Knights fell to 2-2-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the league.

GATORS BLANK JAMESTOWN

JAMESTOWN — Zach Luce and Eric Spring each scored twice to lead Allegany-Limestone past Jamestown 5-0 in the West Division.

The first 27 minutes of the game were scoreless until Luce scored from Spring. Before halftime, Spring added the Gators’ second goal.

After the break, Luce, Spring and Tyler Griffin tallied for Allegany-Limestone (4-1-0, 2-0-0).

Evan Sharpe made 15 saves in net for the Red Raiders (1-2-0, 0-2-0).

“He played an amazing game,” Jamestown head coach Bonnie Schnars said of Sharpe. “Some of the saves were pretty tough saves.”

Jack Conroy made five saves for the Gators.
