Frewsburg Starts Fast In Win At JFK

CHEEKTOWAGA — Frewsburg scored on its first three possessions en route to a 48-8 nonleague victory over JFK on Saturday.

Vincent Sanfilippo scored on touchdown runs of 2 and 10 yards before Draven DeJesus caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from Chase Haglund as Frewsburg led 21-0 in the second quarter.

JFK (1-2, 1-0 Class C Central) scored before halftime, but Frewsburg (2-1, 1-1 Class D) outscored the hosts 27-0 in the second half.

Patrick Spencer returned a punt 65 yards, Payton Dustin caught touchdown passes of 35 and 45 yards from Haglund, and Spencer caught a touchdown pass of 30 yards from DeJesus.

In all, Haglund went 10 of 11 through the air for 220 yards and three touchdowns. Dustin caught three passes for 91 yards, DeJesus caught four for 84 yards and Harrison Eckert caught three for 45 yards. Haglund led Frewsburg in rushing with 11 carries for 69 yards while Sanfilippo had nine carries for 63 yards.

Defensively, Dustin was in on 12 tackles, including one for a loss, had a sack and intercepted a pass. Sanfilippo was in on 11 tackles, including two for a loss; Eckert was in on nine tackles, including two for a loss; DeJesus was in on seven tackles and intercepted a pass; and Mason Eckman intercepted a pass.

Frewsburg will travel to Randolph for a Class D game Friday night.
